"My wife is having a go at me telling me to get in the gym"
Amir Khan has confirmed that he is back with his wife Faryal Makhdoom after he allegedly “sexted another woman”.
The former boxer also claimed that his relationship with her is stronger than ever.
Confessing that his wife has been urging him to get back into the gym, Amir told This Morning hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary:
“I’m not a spring chicken, I’ve not trained for two years.
“My wife is having a go at me telling me to get in the gym, she says I’m getting a ‘dad bod’.
“I used to see a gym and go in, now I see a gym and walk past it.”
He went on to speak about his reality show Meet The Khans: Big in Bolton and admitted he was nervous about the show because it meant the camera crew would be with him and his family all day every day.
Amir joked and said he would sleep with a pillow between himself and Faryal in order to set boundaries.
Amir also promoted his new book Fight For Your Life, which was released for sale on September 14, 2023.
The book highlights his relationship with Faryal, and he disclosed it was a love letter to her.
In an interview with ITV Granada Reports, Amir Khan said:
“At times, I’ve not been the best husband really.
“It builds my respect for Faryal even more because she’s just stood by me. I want to be a changed man. The book is like a love letter to my wife as well.”
He also admitted to experiencing a mental breakdown after finding out millions of pounds were missing from his bank account.
“I probably went through the hardest time of my life. I had a mental breakdown. I came off at a loss, then a hand operation, having a family fallout.
“Thinking you’ve got millions in the bank, but it turns out you’ve got a fraction of that.”
Amir Khan has been plagued by cheating claims throughout 2023.
Bridal model Sumaira claimed he “begged” her for racy pictures before former BBC presenter Suzi Mann accused him of making sexual advances towards her.
Suzi said that after they met at an event in 2016, Amir sent her explicit messages and voicemails, leaving her feeling uncomfortable as she tried to remain professional.
In April 2023, Amir was hit with a two-year drugs ban after he tested positive for ostarine after his defeat to Kell Brook.
Amir has denied intentionally taking the substance and believes it entered his system after sharing a drink.
He said: “It could have been from someone’s drink. A lot of my friends are on steroids because they want to be big.
“I might have shared a drink with someone. But I’ve never cheated in boxing.”
