Akshit Brar has steadily created a name for himself in India’s fashion and modelling scene.
Amidst catwalk shows, magazine spreads and ad campaigns, the 25-year-old is also keen to broaden his talents to acting.
A dapper gentleman with a love of suits and working out, Akshit describes himself as a focused individual who is constantly learning.
In an exclusive Gupshup with DESIblitz, Akshit Brar tells us about his modelling journey so far and why he is always reinventing himself.
What challenges do you face as a male Indian model?
“To be honest, I have not faced any challenges as such as an Indian model.
“I feel if you keep upgrading yourself from time to time and be ahead of your time, you don’t face any challenges, and I’m prepared for what is to come for me.”
What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt?
“Most valuable lesson I have learnt is to keep evolving. Keep upgrading yourself. Keep learning.”
What would you say are your biggest accomplishments to date, both personal and professional?
“My biggest accomplishments are my TV commercials. Have learnt a lot about myself and my love for being on screen.”
What advice would you give to aspiring young models attempting to break into the industry?
“My advice would be to stay focused. Keep improving and pay attention to details.”
Do you get nervous before walking down the catwalk or being part of a big campaign, if yes, how do you overcome it?
“I used to get nervous but I don’t get nervous anymore as I know myself much much better now.
“I know my strengths and I focus on them. And if I get nervous, I look into my past from where I have come. It gives me strength and confidence to overcome that nervousness.”
What do you like to do on your days off?
What do you like to do on your days off?“On my off days, I sleep a lot. Listen to all sort of music from trance to hip hop to instrumental and work on my acting skills.”
What type of style defines you?
“I love wearing suits. Huge fan of Nike.
“Wear what fits you, looks good on you and keep it real. Don’t try and wear clothes that look good on somebody else and copy that. Be comfortable and take it easy.”
Which grooming methods or techniques do you live by?
“I like to keep it clean be it getting a haircut after every two weeks or keeping my beard or stubble on point. Invest in yourself.”
Of all the locations you have visited throughout your career, which has been your favourite and why?
Of all the locations you have visited throughout your career, which has been your favourite and why?“It has to be Vrindavan, India. That city is just so colourful in every sense. It’s beautiful.”
What are your plans and aspirations for the future?
“My plan is to leave a legacy and you will see me on screen very soon.”
With perfectly chiselled features and a piercing gaze, Akshit Brar represents a modern Indian man who takes pride in looking after himself. We envisage great acting heights for this already successful model.
