Hailing from Durban in South Africa (SA), Priyanka Moodley is a Desi model who looks set to become a household name.
She now lives in Mumbai, where her career has gone from strength to strength. A regular staple of popular fashion shows, she’s walked for top Indian designers, such as Anamika Khanna, Manish Malhotra and Vikram Phadnis.
Priyanka has also featured in a number of commercials, promoting brands such as Pantene, Lakmé, Myntra and more.
With her measurements at 32:25:37, Priyanka always looks stunning with her natural beauty and flawless figure. She has also graced the covers of Vogue India and Harper’s Bazaar Bride magazine.
The model also sizzles on the Kingfisher Calendar 2018, alongside Mitali Rannorey, Priyanka Karunakaran and Ishika Sharma.
Now, in an exclusive interview with DESIblitz, Priyanka Moodley talks more about life as a model, South Africa and her favourite Desi dishes!
Tell us about your upbringing in SA and family background. Does your family support you for your career choice? Any challenges?
I had a lovely upbringing in a city called Durban, on the east coast of South Africa. A childhood filled with lots of fun and memories with many outdoor activities in our garden and pool.
My family is very supportive and have always encouraged me to do what I love.
When did you realise you wanted to be a model?
I realised when I was about 13 when many people would compliment me on my height. My parents were very supportive so I decided to try it out after some time and the rest is history.
What does it feel like to be on the ramp? What is most challenging?
I love being on the ramp, it’s one of my favourite aspects of modelling. Though wearing uncomfortable and unstable shoes given by designers are the most challenging aspects.
How does it feel to wear Manish Malhotra’s designs? Any favourite styles?
I love Manish Malhotra‘s designs, they’re absolutely beautiful and so comfortable to wear. It’s hard to choose a favourite style since all his stuff is so spectacular but if I had to, I’d say his lenghas.
How did you find the Kingfisher calendar shoot?
One of my best experiences to date. Everyone was lovely, the team was great and we all got along and worked well together.
What were your highlights of the Kingfisher shoot?
Being able to shoot at so many amazingly beautiful locations and giving me the opportunity to explore parts of Croatia that I would have probably never visited on my own.
Do you have a specific exercise routine for your stunning body?
I love the workouts by Kayla Itsines. They’re only about 30 minutes which is great since I hate spending long hours working out yet they’re so intense and effective.
What makes you sad?
Litter.
What is your favourite food/dish and why?
My mum’s homemade crab curry, because nothing beats mum’s cooking!
What do you prefer – the ramp, photo-shoots or commercials?
I love all but being on the ramp gives me an adrenaline rush that I don’t quite get when I’m in front of the camera.
What would say to other girls wanting to do what you do?
It’s not as easy and glamorous as it looks. It involves a lot of hard work, early call times and long days but if you’re determined and dedicated along with the right attitude, things will happen as they’re meant to.
Priyanka has embarked on an exciting career as a model and one has to admire how her commitment has prevailed. As she oozes sex appeal on the Kingfisher Calendar 2018, it heralds the beginning of a positive year ahead.
From walking the runway for Manish Malhotra to visiting Croatia for the calendar shoot, we’re impressed by Priyanka’s accolades to date. We’re sure her career will continue to rise in the future, following past Kingfisher models’ footsteps!
