As Akshay Kumar was greeting fans, one jumped over a barricade to meet him, prompting differing reactions from the star and his security team.
The actor was at an event in Mumbai to promote Selfiee alongside co-star Emraan Hashmi.
For the event, Akshay kept things casual in a black t-shirt and jeans. He also opted for dark sunglasses.
Before going on stage, Akshay greeted and shook hands with some of the fans, who were chanting his name.
In a video, Akshay was speaking to some fans when one young man jumps over the barricade and rushed towards him.
The actor’s security team stopped the fan and pushed him to the ground, gesturing for him to stay away.
Akshay tried to de-escalate the situation, requesting his security team to stop.
He then walked over to the fan and pulled him in for a hug. Akshay also briefly said something to the fan before waving to another section of fans and greeting them.
The viral video led to a mixture of opinions.
Some criticised the fan for his desperate attempt to meet his idol.
One said: “Fans are so stupid.”
Another user recalled an incident where a friend suffered injuries after trying to meet an actor, writing:
“Never cross the barricade to meet your superstar as bodyguards are ruthless, never thinking for a second to hurt you or take you out.
“My friend from Delhi had done the same thing, his one leg was broken. Facial injury is a bonus.”
However, Akshay’s reaction won the hearts of others.

Akshay Kumar previously unveiled Selfiee‘s third track, titled ‘Kudi Chamkeeli’.
Sung and written by Yo Yo Honey Singh, the video features Akshay and Diana Penty dancing together.
Selfiee has already released ‘Main Khiladi and ‘Kudiye Ni Teri’. Both songs have received good responses from the fans.
The film is a Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Driving License.
Directed by Raj Mehta, Selfiee is set to hit theatres on February 24, 2023.
Meanwhile, the incident is not uncommon as there have been several desperate instances between fans and their idols.
