"I will miss his presence dearly."
Bollywood star Ajay Devgn’s brother, filmmaker Anil Devgan sadly passed away on Monday, 5 October 2020 in the night.
Anil Devgan directed his brother Ajay in several films. These include the 2002 hit Raju Chacha, the 2005 film Blackmail just to name a few.
He was also the creative director on Ajay’s 2012 film, Son of Sardaar.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, 6 October 2020, Ajay Devgn announced the tragic news.
Ajay shared a picture of his late brother with the caption:
“I lost my brother Anil Devgan last night. His untimely demise has left our family heartbroken.
“ADFF & I will miss his presence dearly. Pray for his soul.”
The Singham (2011) actor continued to mention the impact the coronavirus has had on the funeral. He wrote:
“Due to the pandemic, we will not have a personal prayer meet.”

Fans took to the comment section to share their heartfelt condolences. One fan wrote:
“My sincere condolences to you, may God have mercy on him.”
Another fan wrote:
“Rip Anil Garu My deepest condolences to you & your family members sir … May God give strength to you All.”
Members of the film fraternity also commented on Ajay’s post.
Indian film director, Shekhar Kapur expressed his condolences for Ajay and his family. He wrote:
“Really sorry to hear the news, Ajay. God bless his soul. Thoughts with you and your family. Please take care. Much love.”
Actress Urmila Matondkar said:

Last year, Ajay Devgn lost his father, Bollywood stunt director Veeru Devgn. Paying tribute to his late father in May 2020, on his first death anniversary, he wrote:
“Dear Dad, it’s a year since you left. However, I can feel you beside me – quiet, caring, protective; your presence is forever reassuring.”
The actor also shared a black and white picture of his father.
The late Veeru Devgan had worked on a tremendous 80 films during his career span. These include films like Lal Baadshah (1999) and Ishq (1997).
He also directed his son Ajay in the 1999 film Hindustan Ki Kasam which also starred Amitabh Bachchan and Manisha Koirala.
Actor Ajay Devgn was last seen on the big screen earlier this year in Tanhaaji: The Unsung Warrior.
The actor will next appear in Bhuj alongside Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha and more. The film will get a digital release on Disney+ Hotstar.
As of yet, Anil Devgan’s cause of death remains unknown.
