The actors had opted out voluntarily.
Shamoon Abbasi has revealed that Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi casting plan included former couple Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly.
However, the pairing was later dropped after objections from the channel.
He explained that while he initially wanted Ahad in the project, he was informed that if Sajal joined the cast, Ahad could not be part of it.
According to him, this restriction ultimately led to a complete change of cast, altering the project’s original creative direction.
Abbasi revealed that he had envisioned Syed Jibran as the elder brother, Saqib Sameer as Jin, Sajal Aly as Khushi, and Ali Raza in Wahaj Ali’s role.
He also mentioned Gul-e-Rana was his choice instead of Mizna Waqas, while Nadia Afghan was originally considered for Tamkeenat.
However, once the channel intervened, the entire lineup was replaced, and Abbasi said he was told the actors had opted out voluntarily.
He expressed doubts about this explanation, suggesting that no actor would turn down such a distinctive and well-crafted script.
Abbasi’s comments have added further intrigue, as Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi has become one of Hum TV’s most-watched shows for its unconventional storyline.
He previously disclosed that the story and even the title were his own creation, later developed and adapted by another team.
He said he waited nearly six months for a final decision, only to find out later that someone else had been chosen as director.
When Abbasi confronted the producers, they offered him another project as compensation, though that too never came to fruition.
The filmmaker has now further revealed that his original vision leaned heavily on fantasy elements, inspired by classics like The Lord of the Rings.
He described it as a world filled with vintage interiors, imaginative lighting, and a whimsical tone mixed with eccentric characters.
Abbasi shared that while he wanted beautiful faces for the drama, his approach leaned toward a balance of humour and visual depth.
He also praised writer Syed Nabeel as a talented comedy writer but said that he often guided him through revisions and scene deletions over the phone.
In Abbasi’s words, the final televised version differed greatly from his concept.
Despite the creative differences, Jinn Ki Shadi Unki Shadi continues to enjoy high viewership, proving that the show has resonated with audiences.
As the conversation grows, fans are left wondering how the drama might have looked with Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Aly leading the story.
