Amar, Akbar and Anthony have a “mischievous and unpredictable” attitude.
Filmmaking duo Abbas-Mustan have unveiled the first look at their upcoming thriller 3 Monkeys, introducing a new generation of Amar, Akbar and Anthony.
The film stars Vishal Jethwa as Amar, Mustafa Burmawala as Akbar and Tenzin Dalha as Anthony.
The first look was revealed on Gandhi Jayanti, drawing inspiration from the familiar Three Wise Monkeys philosophy associated with Mahatma Gandhi.
However, the filmmakers have given the traditional message a modern twist with the tagline, “Sab Dekho. Apni Suno. Bekhauf Bolo.”
The campaign moves away from the familiar idea of “Bura Mat Dekho, Bura Mat Suno, Bura Mat Bolo”, instead presenting the trio as characters who appear willing to see, hear, and speak without fear.
The motion poster begins with the traditional Three Wise Monkeys before shifting focus to three masked men.
Amar, Akbar and Anthony appear to be involved in something dangerous, while maintaining a playful and carefree attitude.
The mysterious introduction reflects the trademark style associated with Abbas-Mustan, who are known for thrillers featuring suspense, deception, and unexpected twists.
The filmmakers have also introduced another key character through Arjun Rampal, who plays Sanjay.
Sanjay is shown armed and appears to have some connection with the three men, although the nature of their relationship remains unclear.
The first look deliberately avoids revealing whether Sanjay is working alongside Amar, Akbar and Anthony or attempting to stop them.
This has left audiences questioning whether the trio could be planning a robbery, a heist or something more complicated.
Abbas-Mustan have also suggested that the story may not be as straightforward as it initially appears.
Speaking about the characters, the filmmakers said Amar, Akbar and Anthony have a “mischievous and unpredictable” attitude.
They added that the trio appears to enjoy themselves even when they find themselves in dangerous situations.
The filmmakers also hinted that audiences should not assume everything shown in the film represents the full truth.
The thriller is produced by Allarakha Vohra, Faruk Vohra and Sayeed Vohra, with Anand Tiwari serving as associate producer.
3 Monkeys is directed by Abbas-Mustan and presented by AJ Film Entertainment World.
Alongside Jethwa, Burmawala, Dalha and Rampal, the film brings together a younger cast for a contemporary thriller built around mystery and suspense.
The new film appears to combine the directing duo’s familiar storytelling style with a modern interpretation of the iconic Amar, Akbar and Anthony trio.
3 Monkeys is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on December 4, 2026.
