Zarah Sultana doubles down on 'Bare-Faced Liar' remark to PM gf

"I've just been kicked out of Parliament for telling the truth"

Zarah Sultana broke her silence after being removed from the House of Commons for branding Keir Starmer a “bare-faced liar”.

The Your Party MP made the comment during a heated exchange over the appointment of Peter Mandelson as US ambassador.

Sultana is now likely to face a five-day suspension after refusing to withdraw her remark, which breached parliamentary rules. MPs are not permitted to accuse one another of lying and must retract such comments when instructed.

Sultana became the second MP to be ordered out of the chamber. Previously, Reform UK’s Lee Anderson was also removed after calling the Prime Minister a “liar”.

In an Instagram video shortly after her removal, Sultana doubled down on her remarks.

She said: “I’ve just been kicked out of Parliament for telling the truth that Keir Starmer is a bare-faced liar who knew Peter Mandelson was close friends with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein and still appointed him as US ambassador.

“He defended him and he continues to gaslight the nation and it’s about time someone told the truth in the chamber that he’s a liar and he should resign.”

The heated confrontation followed the Prime Minister’s statement to the Commons regarding Mandelson’s appointment.

He insisted he “would not have appointed Peter Mandelson” as UK ambassador to the United States had he known the former peer had failed Foreign Office security vetting.

Starmer claimed he was initially unaware of the failure and was “frankly staggered” that he had not been informed earlier.

During questions from MPs, Zarah Sultana challenged Starmer directly. She said:

“We all know that the Prime Minister appointed Mandelson because he owes his job to him. He appointed him, he defended him, and now he claims to know nothing.

“He is gaslighting the nation. So let’s call this out for what it is. The Prime Minister is a bare-faced liar.”

Her comment prompted audible gasps from the House.

Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle intervened immediately:

“Leave now, I’ll name you otherwise, I’d go now if I were you.

“I’ve given the option to name. I’d leave if I were you, very quickly.”

Sultana attempted to respond, stating: “I have a duty to the House to tell the truth.”

Following her refusal to retract the remark, a vote was brought forward by Government whip Gen Kitche, which said:

“I beg to move that Zarah Sultana be suspended from the services of the House.”

MPs voted in favour of her removal and as Sultana exited the chamber, Hoyle said:

“Leave, I’m sorry you’ve done this, I really am.”
