"Please act before she actually harms a child."
Ghaziabad Police have arrested YouTuber Shikha Metray, known online as Kuwari Begum, for allegedly posting videos that promote child sex abuse.
She was arrested after an FIR was registered against her based on a complaint by an activist.
Ghaziabad Assistant Police Commissioner Ritesh Tripathi said:
“On the basis of a complaint received at Kaushambi police station, a case has been registered under relevant sections.
“The said woman has been arrested. Further legal proceedings are underway.”
Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, who is also a journalist, flagged Begum’s problematic content on X and called for police action against the YouTuber.
Deepika stated: “PAEDOPHILE ALERT. This lady from Ghaziabad is teaching young boys how to sexually abuse infants.
“She has deleted her profiles but I am sure you can still trace her. Please act before she actually harms a child.”
In her complaint, Deepika cited a video titled ‘She will say no. Let her’ on Begum’s YouTube channel.
She accused Begum of suggesting that men should ignore women’s consent and also encouraging sexually aggressive behaviour towards women and children.
The activist and journalist also claimed that the content misguides young boys.
Deepika said she discovered the channel and posted clips on X, urging the authorities to remove the content and take action against the self-proclaimed gamer for encouraging sexual offences against children.
Part of the complaint read: “It has come to my knowledge that a female YouTuber running a gaming channel named Kuwari Begum is promoting and encouraging sexual acts against minors and newborn infants.”
Since the allegations came to light, Begum appears to have deactivated her social media accounts.
Her YouTube channel, which featured over 115 videos and had 2,050 subscribers, has since been made unavailable to the public.
However, one netizen managed to see her YouTube page beforehand.
The user tweeted: “I checked her entire channel and it’s all about porn and sexual stuff but no gaming, when it is a gaming channel playing Valorant.
“How it is fine when a girl talks about all this stuff but if a guy talks about all this, he goes into jail.”
Others praised Deepika for her work that led to Begum’s arrest.
Despite her channel being set to private, some of the videos are still being shared on X.
In addition to her arrest, police are also likely to question her relatives.
Officers are also in talks with Google officials to permanently remove these videos.
It was reported that Begum graduated from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) Delhi and is involved in the clothing and apparel business.
