"What a power couple they could be!"
Aaron Thiara, who plays Ravi Gulati in EastEnders, opened up on whether his character could reunite with Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy).
Priya is the mother of Ravi’s children Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) and Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James).
Sophie joined the show on October 16, 2023, as Nugget’s long-lost mother.
It was also revealed that Ravi was Priya’s former drug dealer, who got her pregnant.
Subsequently, Ravi also found out about his daughter Avani, whom he previously never knew.
After a brief attraction to Martin Fowler (James Bye), Priya seemed to grow closer to Ravi as they raised their children.
Divulging a romantic reunion between the pair, Aaron said:
“What a power couple they could be!
“They know the streets a bit, how to play dirty and be manipulating, but they do it in different ways.
“It’s that level of intrigue where you’re rooting for these two characters to team up — but they can’t seem to see it themselves!
“If they do come together, I think it would be very interesting to watch.”
In recent episodes of EastEnders, Nugget and his friend Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega) get addicted to anabolic steroids.
Upcoming scenes will show Ravi discovering his son’s secret. Aaron also explained Ravi’s reaction.
He said: “[Ravi]’s first reaction is, ‘My son wouldn’t touch that!’
“But also he’s dismissing it to save face.
“Prior to that, viewers will have seen Ravi picking up that something’s not right with Nugget, and he tries to bring it up with him in an indirect way.
“Ravi thinks he’s getting through to his son and making progress.
“But perhaps he’s not picked up on things quickly enough.
“Ravi is ignorant to the fact that his baby boy would even consider taking those things, and he could think someone has forced him to do it — he might want to go and knock some heads together!
“But actually, Nugget is a bit more like Ravi than he thinks.”
After joining EastEnders in 2022, Aaron quickly cemented himself in the hearts of the audience.
At the 2023 British Soap Awards, he won the viewer-voted ‘Villain of the Year’ award.
Meanwhile, EastEnders is gearing up for the introduction of some new members of the iconic Mitchell clan, who will arrive as the secret family of Stevie Mitchell (Alan Ford).
