Will Ranbir Kapoor Work in Hollywood?

Ranbir Kapoor addressed the possibility of him working in Hollywood.

The hugely popular Bollywood star began his acting career with Saawariya (2007).

Since then, he has become one of the industry’s most loved actors, with sterling performances in many movies including Rockstar (2011), Barfi (2012) and Animal (2023).

For several years, Hollywood has been a door for many Indian film stars to increase their fanbase and popularity.

With famous actors including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Ranbir’s wife Alia Bhatt all having made successful marks in Hollywood, some fans have been questioning whether the Animal actor will follow in their footsteps.

Opening up on this, Ranbir Kapoor said: “I’m not interested in Hollywood right now because I’m trying to make a name for myself here.

“I want to contribute to Indian cinema. I think if you want to make a name worldwide, you should do it with your own culture and characters.

“When a film like Crouching Tiger goes global, it’s because it’s close to their culture.

“Ang Lee hasn’t gone and made a film with Hollywood stars to break out in Hollywood.

“I think I am very happy with the way Indian cinema is shaping.

“I am very pleased with the new talent that’s coming in and the opportunities we all as actors are getting.

“I think the windows are open to everybody so if there’s a good opportunity, I would love to do it. But right now, I’m not interested.

“I’m very happy with the Indian films.”

It was also rumoured that Ranbir’s wife Alia would be collaborating with Gurinder Chadha on her next project.

However, the Bend It Like Beckham director debunked the speculation on X.

She wrote: “This is not true. Not sure where this started.

“The script is still in the works. Alia and I had a meeting about another project and I attended her gala recently.”

Alia gained recognition in Hollywood with her performance in Tom Harper’s Heart of Stone (2023).

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is set to reunite with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Love and War.

Touted as an “epic saga”, the film stars Ranbir alongside Alia and Vicky Kaushal.

It is scheduled to be released during Christmas 2025.

Apart from this, Ranbir Kapoor is also set to lead the cast as Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan.

The magnum opus is also expected to feature Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Arun Govil and Lara Dutta.
