"What would I do without her?"
A post has recently appeared on Reddit in which Rekha revealed her favourite person.
The post showed an entry from Stardust Magazine which was a leading Bollywood column that began in the 1970s.
The photograph featured some of Rekha’s favourite things.
When it came to revealing her favourite person, Rekha wrote an answer which could come as a surprise.
The veteran actress responded that her favourite person was none other than Lata Mangeshkar.
Mangeshkar is one of the most influential female playback singers in Indian cinema.
She sang many songs that were picturised on Rekha.
Some of these include ‘Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum‘, ‘Salaam-E-Ishq Meri Jaan’ and ‘Pardesia’.
In the entry, as she referred to Mangeshkar, the Silsila star added: “What would I do without her?”
In 2006, the actress shed light on a life-changing experience with the music legend.
She said: “You know, Lataji and I share a very special rapport that goes back to when I was probably two or three years old.
“That was when I heard her singing in my sleep. And what a way to be woken up!
“She was singing ‘Aaja Re Pardesi’ from the film Madhumati. My mother used to hear this song at full volume.
“I’d jump up in my cradle and start dancing.”
Rekha continued to state that Mangeshkar once called her “Mahalaxmi”.
The star went on: “I just died at that moment. The general public may have a high opinion of me. But her?
“The woman I worship. That moment has changed my entire view of life.

“It was a very positive kind of tsunami – it changed my life.
“After hearing her call me ‘Mahalaxmi’, it would be perfectly all right if I drop dead right now.
“It’s a moment that is engraved in gold in my mind.”
In the 1970s and 1980s, a rumour that was rife in Bollywood was Rekha’s alleged affair with Amitabh Bachchan.
Between 1973 and 1981, they appeared in 10 films together.
During this period, Rekha accepted the affair, saying: “I love him and he loves me.”
However, she denied a personal connection with Amitabh during a 2004 interview with Simi Garewal.
She said: “I am yet to come across a single man, woman or child who has not fallen insanely, passionately, hopelessly in love with [Amitabh].
“So why should I be singled out?
“There was never a personal connection with him. It just didn’t happen.”
In 1990, Rekha had a short-lived marriage to Mukesh Aggarwal. However, the relationship ended when Mukesh took his own life.
The star has also been linked to Vinod Mehra and Sanjay Dutt.
Lata Mangeshkar began her singing career in 1942 and quickly became an iconic figure for millions of fans.
She passed away on February 6, 2022, at the age of 92.
Meanwhile, Rekha was last seen in a cameo appearance in Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se (2018).
