"I just feel like I’m with my best friend."
On September 12, 2024, Halsey took to X to confirm that she and Avan Jogia were engaged.
This came after a popular account posted a picture of them and captioned it:
“Halsey says she hopes to marry boyfriend Avan Jogia.”
The singer quickly corrected this with a quote tweet, in which she wrote:
“***fiancé Avan Jogia.”
Engagement rumours began in July when the couple were seen kissing during a romantic picnic in New York City.
In the photos, the singer was seen wearing an engagement ring, prompting fans to think the couple had taken the next step.
Halsey was one of the performers at the 2024 VMAs and spoke openly to E! ahead of the event.
She said: “Avan is the best; he’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to me.
“You know, every single day I get to spend with him is one where I just feel like I’m with my best friend.
“You know what I mean? It’s incredible.”
When asked if she plans to marry, she replied: “I hope so!”
This statement proved not to just be words as she confirmed her engagement a few days later.

Halsey also spoke about her son Ender, who she had in 2021 with her previous partner Alev Aydin.
She said Ender and Avan were “best friends too, they are inseparable”.
Halsey and Aydin’s break up was first reported in Spring 2023.
She began dating Avan later that year and they went Instagram official just before Halloween.
Avan Jogia is a 32-year-old Canadian actor, born to Mike and Wendy Jogia.
He is of British Indian and Gujarati descent from his father’s side and English, German and Welsh descent from his mother’s.
Avan’s breakout role was in Nickelodeon’s Victorious, where he played Beck Oliver for four seasons alongside Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande.
Avan has also branched out into directing. He directed several episodes of Last Teenagers of the Apocalypse and in the 2022 short film Like Alex.
Like Halsey, Avan also makes music with his brother in the band Sanity Ivory.
Their album Mixed Feelings was released in 2020, and Avan also released a poetry book of the same name in 2019.
The idea to create an album came after his book tour.
He said: “The writing of the album was also motivated by this tour because I was sort of like, I don’t want just to go up there and read poems.
“I want to give the attendees something worth that that wasn’t just a guy a couple of feet in front of you reading some poems.”
The couple share posts of each other on social media and they have received a lot of fan love.
After Halsey confirmed her engagement, fans expressed their excitement.
One netizen said: “I have hope in love again now Avan and Halsey are engaged.”
