A Walmart worker gave a chilling new take on how Gursimran Kaur “baked to death” in the store’s walk-in oven.

The 19-year-old from India was working alongside her mother at the store in Halifax, Canada, when the tragedy occurred.

Gursimran’s “charred remains” were found by her mother inside the industrial oven when a colleague noticed “leakage” coming from the area.

In several TikTok videos, current and former employees of various superstore locations have been sharing insights into what it is like working inside a Walmart bakery.

TikTok user Chris Breezie showed how the Walmart oven turns on from the outside and that the door handle has to be pulled “really hard” to open it.

She said: “I don’t even know if I would fit in here.

“I’m 5 foot 1, medium built. I would have to crouch down to get in.”

Chris pointed out there was no emergency latch on the inside nor was there a task that required an employee to physically enter the oven.

She continued: “I would never be in here, whether I’m cleaning it or not.”

In the video, Chris showed that for the oven to close and lock, “you have to push [the latch] with all your might and pull the handle to the side and lock it in place”.

“There is no way possible somebody could lock themselves in there.”

However, the Walmart worker did not rule out the possibility of someone being pushed into the oven against their will.

She added: “Now, somebody could throw me in there and lock me in there, but that’s a whole different scenario.”

Another Walmart worker named Mary echoed the sentiments.

She said: “It doesn’t make any sense. This door does not close by itself… It doesn’t latch.

“It’s designed not to do that. You have to push it, hear the click.”

Mary demonstrated stepping inside the oven and utilising the emergency release from the interior, showing that it is a simple push feature.

She said: “I’m not trying to theorise or form a conspiracy, it’s just hard to wrap my head around it when Walmart’s bakery ovens are so safe to use.”

The videos have sparked an outpouring of responses from other Walmart employees, who agreed that the oven should not have been able to close easily.

Previously, another bakery worker said the interior safety release is metal, meaning it would get extremely hot when the oven was turned on.

Police continue to investigate Gursimran Kaur’s death, and the Walmart superstore remains closed more than a week on from the tragedy.

It is still unclear how Gursimran became trapped inside the oven.
