"Kohli saab what is this behaviour?”
Virat Kohli issued a clarification over his brief interaction with a post by Avneet Kaur after it caused an online stir.
The actress had posted alluring pictures of herself wearing a green crop top and a printed wrap skirt.
Fans noticed that Virat had liked the post, then quickly removed the like.
Nevertheless, social media users commented on the matter, with one writing:
“Kohli saab what is this behaviour?”
Another commented: “Where are the likes of Kohli?”
Some asked: “Who all have come to see Virat Kohli’s like?”
Others posted GIFs of the cricketer under Avneet’s smouldering photos.
Some even began wondering if there was tension between Virat and his wife Anushka Sharma.
The viral ‘Like’ soon attracted Virat’s attention, and he was forced to address the incident in an Instagram story.
Stating that the Instagram ‘Like’ mistakenly happened, Virat wrote:
“I’d like to clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction.
“There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding.”
However, the clarification did little to end the drama. Even after the like was gone, fans kept commenting on Avneet Kaur’s post.
Making fun of Virat’s response, one wrote:
“Kids: my account got hacked.
“Men: my PR agent accidentally liked a post.
“Legend: the algorithm mistakenly registered an interaction.”
Believing the ‘Like’ was not a mistake, another said:
“As a software engineer for 4 years, this is a completely senseless post!!
“An app like Instagram would never register an interaction mistakenly.
“Yeah, I mean, that’s Instagram, not someone’s computer science final project, lol.”
Supporters of Virat Kohli began tagging Mark Zuckerberg and the official META accounts, demanding answers about Instagram’s algorithm.
Some flooded unrelated posts with hashtags and memes defending the cricket star.
The timing added to the intrigue as Virat had posted a heartfelt birthday tribute to Anushka a day before.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently third in the IPL table. Mumbai Indians currently top the table.
