A relentless series of misunderstandings pile up.

The trailer for Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is finally out, and it promises a thoroughly entertaining and chaotic comic ride.

Directed by David Dhawan, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in the central roles.

The three-minute trailer sets up a fast-paced story built around relationships, misunderstandings and one man’s spectacularly messy double life.

Things kick off in a courtroom where Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur’s characters appear before a judge seeking a divorce.

When asked to explain the reasons for the separation, Mrunal’s character launches into a list of everything that her husband an ideal.

The real issue, however, soon becomes clear: his deep desire to have children, which has created a serious rift between the two.

The story then takes a sharp and comedic turn when Varun’s character heads to a club and immediately falls for Pooja Hegde’s character.

What follows is where the trailer truly shifts into high gear with a central twist that drives the entire comic narrative forward.

Both Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur’s characters end up pregnant with Varun’s child, setting the stage for complete and utter chaos.

From this point on, the trailer follows Varun’s increasingly desperate attempts to keep the two women from ever crossing paths.

Cover-ups, close calls, frantic scrambles, and a relentless series of misunderstandings pile up at a breathless pace.

The comedy draws clear inspiration from the spirit of Garam Masala, the beloved 2005 film that mined similar comic territory brilliantly.

In one particularly funny moment, Varun’s character is seen frantically trying to hide Mrunal’s handbag from Pooja.

The scene captures the flavour of the entire trailer: broad, physical and committed to wringing every possible laugh from the situation.

The trailer also leans heavily into 90s nostalgia with the use of the iconic song ‘Chunari Chunari.’

The title track ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’ also features prominently, bringing with it a wave of warm and familiar recall.

The film takes its title directly from the popular song of the same name featured in the 1999 comedy Biwi No.1.

By borrowing both the title and the sonic energy of that period, Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai positions itself as a spiritual successor.

David Dhawan, who directed Biwi No.1 as well, is clearly revisiting familiar and personally comfortable comedic territory with this new project.

The trailer has already been generating strong reactions online with many viewers responding warmly to its unabashedly masala-driven comic energy.

Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 5, 2026.
