Actor Varun Dhawan recently engaged in a public dispute with an Instagram influencer named Simran Bhat regarding a movie review.
The controversy began when Bhat posted a reel accusing the actor of faking reviews for the first look of his upcoming film.
She specifically targeted the promotional material for the new David Dhawan directorial venture titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
According to Bhat, the incident occurred at the busy Rajiv Chowk Metro station, where two individuals suddenly approached her.
These individuals reportedly asked for a review of the teaser even though the influencer had not actually watched it yet.
Bhat explained that the pair offered to tell her exactly what to say for the supposed video review segment online.
She questioned how such a statement could be considered a review if the content was being dictated to her directly.
The influencer claimed that the woman who approached her insisted she watch the teaser immediately, right there in the station.
Bhat declined due to being late but shared her frustration regarding the perceived lack of authenticity in the film campaign.
The influencer ended her video by asking:
“I was like, bhai, Varun Dhawan are you facing such bad times that you have to get fake reviews? What the hell?”
Dhawan did not take the allegations lightly and personally commented on the viral reel to defend his professional image.
He suggested that Simran Bhat was only sharing this story to gain more views and attention on her social media.
The actor wrote a sarcastic social media comment stating:
“Hope you get the views you really want with this video.”
Simran Bhat replied to his comment by stating she did not need to use such tactics for social media engagement.
Bhat directly addressed the actor and wrote: “Sir, with due respect, I don’t need to do these kinds of things for views. I already am satisfied with my numbers.”

The influencer re-shared the comment on her Stories to show that the situation actually happened exactly as she described.
The influencer claimed the interaction with the team at the metro station was definitely affecting the public image of Varun.
Bhat further warned that the situation was bad and said: “Also you should definitely once check with your PR team because it is affecting your own image.”
She also shared a screenshot of another comment that the actor seemingly deleted shortly after posting it on her reel. This deleted message stated:
“First of all ma’am you have convinced yourself that someone who has come and asked you has asked you because I sent them to you all this for views.”
Simran Bhat mocked the deletion of the reply by asking why he had removed the comment from the public thread.
The film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai features Varun Dhawan along with leading actresses Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.
It is a romantic comedy directed by David Dhawan, currently scheduled for a wide theatrical release on May 22, 2026.
