The much-anticipated Bangladeshi film Utshob was officially announced on May 13, 2025, at a press conference in Dhaka.
The event introduced the film and showcased an extraordinary gathering of some of the country’s most celebrated actors.
This project promises to stand out this Eid-ul-Azha.
Directed by Tanim Noor, Utshob is positioned as a family-centric Eid release.
The director described it as a film made for everyone to watch together.
Noor said: “I wanted to create something festive that families could enjoy during Eid.”
His statement echoes the film’s tagline: “Do not watch without your family.”
The cast features a stunning mix of National Award-winning artists.
This includes Zahid Hasan, Jaya Ahsan, Aupee Karim, Chanchal Chowdhury, Afsana Mimi, Tariq Anam Khan, Azad Abul Kalam, and Intekhab Dinar.
Other cast members include Sunerah Binte Kamal, Soumya Jyoti, and Sadia Ayman.
The lineup, considered unprecedented in modern Bangladeshi cinema, has already generated buzz.
In a dramatic and creative presentation, all the cast members appeared wearing identical masks, only revealing their faces together on stage.
This theatrical reveal was well-received by the audience.
Zahid Hasan expressed joy at reuniting with so many familiar faces, while Afsana Mimi found the film’s family-first theme especially moving.
She said: “We’ve waited a long time for a film like this.”
Chanchal Chowdhury described the experience of working on the film as “pure joy”.
Meanwhile, Aupee Karim remarked that Utshob might be the first time this generation sees so many veteran actors together on screen.
Produced by Dope Productions, with co-production from Chorki and support from Laughing Elephant, Utshob marks Dope’s debut film project.
Managing Director Krishnendu Chattopadhyay emphasised the collaborative nature of the film.
He added that there are plans to release it internationally to coincide with the festive season.
Chorki CEO Redoan Rony said the film arrives at a time when audiences are seeking stories that can bring families together.
Screenwriters Tanim Noor, Ayman Asib Shadhin, Susmoy Sarkar, and Samiul Bhuiyan collaborated on the story, with cinematography by Rashed Zaman.
The event also saw attendance from several notable figures in the entertainment industry.
This included FS Nayeem, Quazi Nawshaba, Syed Ahmed Shawki, and Fatema Tuz Zohra Oyshee.
With such a distinguished ensemble, Utshob is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about Eid releases of 2025.
