The sixteenth series of Channel 4’s popular baking competition will feature 12 bakers competing in signature bakes, technical challenges, and difficult showstoppers.
These contestants are of different ages, backgrounds, professions, and races.
Each week will showcase a different theme of bakes, including cakes, bread, and pastries.
Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding will return to present the upcoming series, while the judges comprise Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.
In every episode, a worthy contestant is crowned ‘Star Baker’, and at least one baker is eliminated from the competition.
The Great British Bake Off 2025 features two bakers with South Asian roots.
South Asian communities can include people of Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, and Sri Lankan backgrounds.
Let’s find out more about the two Desi bakers.
Hassan
Hassan is a 30-year-old analytical research and development scientist.
He is also a Chemistry graduate who lives with his mother in South Yorkshire.
As a scientist, Hassan has a methodical and analytical approach towards his baking.
A thorough research process always lies before attempting a new recipe.
Inspired by his Pakistani heritage, Hassan loves sweet treats, praline, and nut-based flavours.
When he’s not in the kitchen or lab, Hassan likes to spend his time gaming and going to the gym.
He also regularly participates in quizzes with his friends.
Nadia
The daughter of an Italian father and an Indian mother, 41-year-old Nadia likes to blend flavours from both countries in her baking.
Nadia describes herself as a chatterbox bringing warmth and laughter into every room, whether it’s her home salon, the dance floor, or the kitchen.
Bringing soulful flavours to her bakes, Nadia lives in Liverpool with her partner Daniel and daughters Rosa-Bella and Maria.
Nadia is a hairdresser and former personal trainer. She is energetic, creative, and heart, heritage, and joy are at the centre of her baking.
Speaking of joining the show, Nadia commented: “Never in a million years did I think I would get on The Great British Bake Off.
“So when I found out that I had actually got on the show, I was actually working in my salon.”
“Then I had to act normal for the rest of the appointment – I had to hold my scream in!”
DESIblitz wishes Nadia and Hassan the very best of luck!
Meanwhile, the 2024 series of The Great British Bake Off was won by Georgie Grasso.
The show returns to Channel 4 at 8 pm.
