"I really refrained from taking people's opinions seriously."
Tamannaah Bhatia, one of India’s most versatile actresses, has reflected on how the monumental success of Baahubali changed her both personally and professionally.
The star, who began her acting journey with Chand Sa Roshan Chehra in 2005, has now spent two decades building an illustrious career across Hindi, Tamil and Telugu cinema.
Her life and career took a defining turn in 2015 when she was cast as Avanthika opposite Prabhas in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning.
The film became one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of all time, and her performance as the fierce yet graceful warrior brought her immense recognition.
With her powerful screen presence, expressive dance moves and chemistry with Prabhas, Tamannaah became a household name across India.
In 2017, she returned to her iconic role in Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which shattered box office records and solidified her position as one of South India’s most successful female stars.
Reflecting on the impact the franchise had on her, Tamannaah recently shared how it shaped her as both an artist and an individual.
Speaking to Filmfare, she said: “Baahubali was a film that I learned the most about.
“We were shooting against the green screen, so we had to imagine a lot of things.
“I learnt much about VFX and how it’s used to enhance a film. It gave me a lot more confidence to be a lot more experimental.
“From there onwards, I really refrained from taking people’s opinions seriously. I started to trust my gut a lot more. It gave me a lot of insight into my own personality.”
The actress credited the experience with making her more self-assured and open to taking creative risks.
She explained that the technical learning from Baahubali pushed her to explore diverse genres and characters, helping her evolve beyond conventional roles.
Now, nearly a decade after her breakthrough in the franchise, Tamannaah is set to revisit her most memorable character once again.
She will reprise her role as Avanthika in Baahubali: The Epic — a re-edited and remastered single-film version of Baahubali: The Beginning and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
Directed by SS Rajamouli, this special release will feature previously unseen scenes and promises to offer a refreshed cinematic experience when it hits theatres on October 31.
Alongside the epic’s release, Tamannaah’s busy schedule reflects her growing dominance in Indian cinema.
She was last seen in Aryan Khan’s show The Ba**ds of Bollywood song ‘Ghafoor’ and has a string of upcoming Hindi projects, including O’ Romeo opposite Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri.
She will also star in the action film Ranger alongside Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt, IPS Maria opposite John Abraham, and Vvan with Sidharth Malhotra.
These projects signal Tamannaah’s firm grip across industries, balancing mass entertainers and performance-driven roles alike.
Two decades since her debut, Tamannaah continues to redefine herself with confidence and ambition.
