Tamannaah sought one crore rupees in damages.
The Madras High Court has dismissed an appeal filed by the famous South Indian actor Tamannaah Bhatia.
This legal challenge targeted a prior decision that rejected her claim for damages amounting to one crore Indian rupees.
Tamannaah had previously sued Power Soaps for allegedly using her likeness without permission after their legal contract had expired.
A division bench consisting of Justice P Velmurugan and Justice K Govindarajan Thilakavadi delivered the final ruling on April 16, 2026.
The judges upheld a 2017 order from a single judge who had initially dismissed the original plea for damages.
This long-running legal dispute began when the actor signed an endorsement agreement with the company back in 2008.
The contract allowed the soap manufacturer to use her images on their product wrappers for exactly one single year.
According to the legal documents, the formal agreement was valid from October 7, 2008, until October 6, 2009, specifically.
After the agreement expired, it was not renewed, but the actor claimed her pictures were still being used.
She argued the company was unauthorisedly using her images, and this usage had caused her a significant financial loss.
Tamannaah sought one crore rupees in damages and a permanent injunction to restrain the company from using her images.
In response, the soap company argued that the actor was not entitled to claim any amount for ‘imaginary damages’.
During the initial trial, the single judge found that the ‘materials she produced were not genuine documents’ at all.
The court noted that these materials failed to establish that the company was responsible for the existence of wrappers.
Because the evidence did not prove the company was at fault, the court refused to grant any financial compensation.
The division bench agreed with this assessment and concluded that there was no reason to interfere with the order.
This legal setback comes at a time when Tamannaah is celebrating 20 years of her career in the industry.
She has been a prominent face in Indian cinema and is currently preparing for the release of new projects.
Her upcoming film titled Vvan Force of the Forrest is a folk thriller that features the actor Sidharth Malhotra.
This movie was originally scheduled for a May 2026 release, but the producers have now moved the date to August 28, 2026.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see her perform in this unique genre after her recent success in various digital shows.
Tamannaah Bhatia was last seen in the comedy-drama series Do You Wanna Partner, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video.
In that series, she shared the screen with Diana Penty and received positive reviews for her lighthearted comedy performance.
