"it would have taken attention away from the story.”
Tamannaah Bhatia was originally considered for the Dhurandhar dance number ‘Shararat’, but director Aditya Dhar rejected her.
The film’s soundtrack has drawn huge attention, with several songs dominating charts and social media.
While the title track and ‘Fa9la’ went viral, ‘Shararat’ has also emerged as a fan favourite.
The wedding dance number is picturised on Ayesha Khan and Krystle D’Souza.
It appears during a lavish Karachi wedding scene, with the two performers entertaining high-profile guests.
In an interview with Filmygyan, choreographer Vijay Ganguly revealed that Tamannaah was his first choice; however, Aditya was against the idea.
He explained: “In my head, she was (the one).
“I had suggested her, but Aditya was very clear that he did not want what people call an item song, something that went out of the story.
“If it were just about one girl, it would have taken attention away from the story.”
Vijay said Aditya had pushed for two dancers instead of one, which is how Ayesha and Krystle came to be in the song.
He continued: “He (Aditya) didn’t want the attention to be about this one person.
“If it were Tamannaah, it would’ve been about her and not the story.
“What was happening in the film, there was a lot going on, and if you go away from the story, then the song is just a cut-to song.”
Dhurandhar is a spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh as an Indian operative infiltrating gangs in Pakistan’s Lyari and dismantling their terrorist links.
Based on true events, the film also stars Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt.
The film has been a major box office success. It has earned over Rs. 800 crore worldwide, cementing its status as one of the year’s biggest hits.
Meanwhile, Tamannaah Bhatia has gained a lot of popularity for her sizzling item numbers in various films and TV shows.
This includes ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ from Stree 2 and ‘Ghafoor’ from The Ba***ds of Bollywood.
Tamannaah recently celebrated her 36th birthday with an intimate celebration surrounded by close friends, including Suved Lohia, Mrunal Thakur and Siddhant Chaturvedi.
On the film front, she will next appear in Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’ Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor.
Tamannaah will also reunite with Siddhant Chaturvedi in V Shantaram, which releases in 2026.
