West Bengal actor Susmita Chatterjee is preparing for her Dhallywood debut this Eid-ul-Fitr with the action romance film Rakkhosh.

The film marks her first collaboration with Bangladeshi star Siam Ahmed and will introduce her to a new cinematic audience.

Speaking about the project, Susmita described her experience as both challenging and rewarding, especially working opposite a popular Dhallywood lead.

She praised Siam Ahmed warmly, saying he was “wonderful” as a co-actor and generous throughout the shooting process.

Emphasising how comfort translated into convincing on-screen chemistry, she shared:

“Our bonding off-screen has also grown into a good friendship.”

She added: “From the beginning, he supported me a lot, which made working in front of the camera much easier.”

According to Susmita, this support helped her adapt quickly to a new industry, language rhythms and unfamiliar working conditions.

She travelled to Bangladesh in December 2025 to begin filming, only to encounter sudden political unrest during her stay.

The situation escalated after the fatal shooting of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Osman Hadi, prompting safety concerns nationwide.

Reflecting on that period, she said: “I saw how quickly circumstances could change in a country, but I personally did not feel the intensity.”

She explained that filming had been temporarily paused, yet the production team ensured her security and emotional well-being.

“The shoot was paused for safety reasons, but the team took great care of me.”

Beyond security concerns, Susmita initially struggled with pronunciation differences between Bangladeshi and West Bengal Bangla.

With help from her co-actors and crew members, she gradually adjusted and gained confidence in delivering her lines.

After completing key portions in Bangladesh, the production moved to Sri Lanka for nearly a month of shooting.

Only two songs remain to be filmed before the project officially wraps up post-production work.

Directed by Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, Rakkhosh is positioned as an action-driven romantic story for festive audiences.

Susmita expressed optimism about the film’s Eid release, recalling her earlier festive success with Chengiz opposite Jeet.

Hoping that history repeats itself positively, she said:

“It’s interesting that both films share Eid as a common factor.”

Discussing her role, she revealed that her character carries emotional depth and shifting motivations throughout the narrative.

“My character has many layers, and I found it very fulfilling to portray.”

Following Bangladesh’s recent parliamentary election, Susmita Chatterjee also spoke about her desire for stronger cross-border cultural exchange.
