"it's more bothersome now that we are still talking about it."
Sunny Leone gave her thoughts on still being judged for her past adult film career.
She has come a long way in Bollywood, starring in numerous films.
However, her Bollywood entry was met with a lot of backlash as she was coming off a successful adult film career.
Although much of the backlash has died down, Sunny is still judged by some for her previous career.
Reacting to the ‘adult film star tag’, Sunny said:
“I think that in my initial time being here in India, it is expected of the certain words or tag people use for you. That is completely normal.
“I think it’s more bothersome now that we are still talking about it.
“Come on! It’s been 13 years now since I have been here.
“If you don’t let it go, how do we all move forward? So, it is high time. It is not a conversation piece which is interesting anymore.
“It’s something you know has happened in my life. We all have done a lot of work and grown in our own ways. I think it’s odd now that a publication uses it for traction.”
On the work front, Sunny Leone will next be seen in Anurag Kashyap’s neo-noir thriller Kennedy.
During the film’s premiere in Melbourne in 2023, she reflected on her porn career and the state of India’s view on it.
“I think India is coming into the zone that they’ve always wanted to be in, which is being able to express themselves, whether it’s sexually, whether it’s the content that’s being talked about, which also can be sexual.
“Still, if I do a kissing scene, I get articles written about me that are not so positive.”
“But if somebody else does the same thing or more, it’s considered bold, and how brave she is. It’s really quite interesting.
“I think everything happens for a reason, and destiny has his own – or her own – plan.
“Everything that happened brought me to the moment of going on the show, and that changed my entire life, so I’m not ashamed.
“I don’t feel bad, I’m extremely happy about my journey.
“Sometimes things become very difficult because of my life choices.
“But I’m sitting in Melbourne, my film is playing at a film festival.
“From where I started to where I am today, you can’t predict that. It’s been pretty amazing.”
