“She came and tried to hit us"
Kannada actress Samyuktha Hegde was harassed in the park for wearing a sports bra. She caught the ordeal in a video which she shared online.
The actress is a prevalent name in the Kannada film industry. She is also popular on social media with over one million followers on Instagram.
Recently, Samyuktha Hegde was a victim of harassment. The actress was attacked in a public park in Bengaluru.
She states that she visited the park to workout with her friends. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse when she was attacked.
It is speculated that she was assaulted by locals in an unprovoked attack.
Hegde further claims that the locals continued to accuse her of consuming drugs, something she strongly denies.
This shocking and unexpected attack happened a day after Kannada actress Ragini Dwivedi was arrested. Her arrest sent shockwaves in the industry.
In the video, Hegde is heard shouting, “What is wrong with them?”
The entire incident was captured in a live video which was shared on her Instagram account.
Appealing for help, Samyuktha Hegde says:
“Guys, please help us. We were doing our hoops [a form of exercise] … he’s just trying to get attention.”
According to Samyuktha Hegde, she was exercising with her two friends when a woman tried to attack them. She said:
“She tried to hit us. We have video proof of her trying to hit us and it’s wrong.
“Trying to attack someone just because they are trying to do something in public. This is just wrong.”
Speaking to a police officer who arrived at the scene, Hegde says:
“He’s talking about drugs which is not true.”
Then, Samyuktha Hegde takes off her hoodie for the camera to show that she is wearing a sports bra and leggings. She stated:
“I am wearing a sports bra and pants and I’m with two girl friends of mine and I was working out here.
“She came and tried to hit us and now they’re telling us that we are wrong. And now they have started talking about drugs out of the blue.”
The sixteen-minute-long video is certainly shocking. Commenting on the video, Indian film actress Niharicka Singh better known as Captain Nick wrote:
“People practice dance/stunts/yoga etc in public parks. How is this indecent???”
Musician Vineeth Vincent shared his frustration saying:
“This is absolutely disgusting! Uneducated, senseless mob mentality.”
