Pakistani-American artist Salman Toor has earned a spot on TIME’s prestigious TIME100 Art 2026 list.

This marks the second time that the magazine has recognised the artist for his contribution to art.

TIME100 Art 2026 was officially announced on September 18, 2026.

Toor has been featured among the 100 most influential people currently shaping the future of art.

The 42-year-old artist was named alongside painters, photographers, museum leaders and philanthropists from across the world.

The list brings together some of the most prominent names working in the global art world today.

Toor was recognised for his work that explores themes of intimacy and isolation through his paintings.

TIME highlighted the way his paintings depict young brown men experiencing moments of connection and solitude.

In its profile of the artist, TIME described his work as portraying young brown men “in states of convergence and of isolation.”

The magazine further wrote: “Sometimes, the men are dancing at a bar, bathed in emerald light; other times, they are alone, lying in bed.”

This latest recognition adds to Toor’s steadily growing profile on the international art stage.

It also follows a series of notable milestones that have shaped his career over the years.

Back in 2020, TIME reported that Toor’s paintings had sold for over $1 million at auction.

That report underlined the rising interest in his work within the international art market at the time.

Since then, the artist has continued expanding his presence through exhibitions and major international art events.

Toor toured a solo exhibition to four different museums, taking his work to audiences around the world.

He also participated in the Venice Biennale, which remains one of the art world’s biggest international events.

The artist has additionally held a two-part gallery exhibition that ended up selling out completely.

That sold-out show added to the string of career milestones he has achieved in recent years.

Another significant moment now awaits the artist in the coming months of this year.

Toor’s first solo European exhibition is set to open at the Courtauld Gallery in London in October 2026.

The upcoming show is expected to further strengthen his presence in the European art scene.

His inclusion in TIME100 Art 2026 is not the first time he has appeared on a TIME list.

Salman Toor was previously featured on the magazine’s TIME100 Next list back in the year 2021.

That earlier recognition had already marked him as an emerging voice worth watching in global art.

His latest appearance now places him among the established names influencing the direction of art today.
