“I am disturbed and depressed"
Indian model Sagarika Shona Suman is receiving death threats after speaking out against entrepreneur Raj Kundra.
Kundra was arrested on Monday, July 19, 2021 for allegedly creating and distributing pornographic films on mobile apps.
Shortly after, Suman revealed that Raj Kundra demanded a nude audition from her, to which she refused.
In a video from February 2021, Sagarika Shona Suman said:
“In August 2020, I got a call from Umesh Kamat ji who offered me a web series owned and produced by Raj Kundra.
“I asked him about Raj Kundra and he told me he is Shilpa Shetty’s husband.
“He told me if I joined (the web series), I would continue to get work and I would reach great heights.
“So I agreed and then he told me to audition. I told him it’s Covid-19 so how will I give the audition. So he said ‘you can do it via video-call’.
“When I joined the video call, he demanded that I give a nude audition. I was shocked and refused.
“The video call had three people – one of whom had their face covered and one of them was Raj Kundra I think.
“I want that if he is involved in such things, he is arrested and such a racket is exposed.”
Sagarika Shona Suman now says that she has been receiving calls with threats of death and rape ever since she spoke out.
Suman said:
“I am disturbed and depressed because I am getting calls from different online platforms. They are threatening me.
“I am getting threats of death and rape.
“People are calling me from different numbers and asking me what wrong has Raj Kundra done.”
Suman also added that she is also being accused of destroying Raj Kundra’s business. She said:
“They are threatening me and accusing me of shutting down their business.
“They even said that you people watch porn films that’s why we are making it.”
Following the backlash, Sagarika Shona Suman now feels her life is in danger, and she plans to file a police complaint against those responsible for the abusive calls.
She also believes there are others like her who are victims of Raj Kundra’s ‘porn racket’.
Mumbai Police arrested Raj Kundra on Monday, July 19, 2021, and he has been in police custody since.
According to new reports, his remand has been extended until Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
