Popular Punjabi singer, Juggy D is tearing up the Desi dance floor with another bhangra smash hit, ‘RUJ RUJ’ – the DJ Dips Remix.
The original track was composed by none other than music producer, Rishi Rich for the British Asian film, Amar Akbar & Tony.
With the help of DJ Dips, Juggy D has taken the song to a new level with a fun and nostalgic bhangra beat, making it a perfect Punjabi foot-tapping number.
With 13 years worth of musical hits behind him, Juggy has been enjoying recent success with the much-anticipated urban track, ‘FREAK’ with Rishi and Jay Sean.
The collaboration of the Desi urban trio, formerly the Rishi Rich Project, was 12 years in the making. And the track has been applauded for redefining British Asian underground music that first set off their careers over a decade ago.
In an exclusive Gupshup with DESIblitz, Juggy D chats to us about his love for traditional Punjabi music, being creative with Bhangra and much more!
What made you go back to a more traditional Bhangra sound after ‘FREAK’?
“The sound of FREAK is something that the three of us: myself, Rishi and Jay create when we’re together.
“As a solo artist I like doing more pop and traditional Punjabi music and then occasionally dropping tracks like PATRON and INDIAN TWERK.
“That’s the beauty of music it allows you to be creative and do things that you want to do when you want to do them.”
What do you like most about ‘RUJ RUJ’?
“RUJ RUJ is a feel good song and Dips being a DJ knows what works on the dance floor and he did just that on this remix. It made me smile and dance when we were working on it. I’m sure it will have the same effect on the listeners.”
What was making the video like? Any funny stories?
“The video was actually really funny because it’s shot at a pre-wedding gig I did.
“I performed the track and the video was shot in one take without anyone knowing it was for a music video, although I did tell the guests before I left.”
“We got away with it as the rest of the video is put together with scenes from the film Amar Akbar & Tony.”
What’s your view on illegal downloading?
“It’s one of those things that we will always go on about but it’s hard to put a stop to it. Can’t stress enough for people to PLEASE BUY LEGALLY.”
What does ‘RUJ RUJ’ have your previous songs did not?
“A very recent release date, lol!”

“I sincerely thank all the fans for their ongoing support over the last 13yrs and letting me live my dream.
