"He was in tears."
In an interview with Nikhil Kamath, Ranbir Kapoor narrated an emotional moment involving Aamir Khan.
Ranbir shared that Aamir grew teary-eyed while telling him about his lack of relationships with his family.
The Brahmastra star recalled: “I met [Aamir] two years back. He was in tears.
“I asked him what happened and he said, ‘I have spent 30 years of my life and the only relationship I’ve had is with my audience. I don’t have a relationship with my children and I don’t have a relationship with my mother’.”
Ranbir Kapoor continued to reveal what impact this had on him.
He said: “That’s what this profession takes. You have to give it all.
“So the endeavour is also kind of to balance your reel life with your real life and not get swayed by this ambition.
“I don’t want to get swayed by ambition.”
Aamir Khan has frequently spoken about not spending enough time with his family and that this realisation compelled him to take a break from acting after Laal Singh Chaddha (2022).
During an appearance on Koffee With Karan in 2022, Aamir said:
“A year ago, I went through a lot of introspection. I felt I did not nurture my relationships like my work.
“I realised that I’ve not spent so much time with Ira and Junaid since they were children.
“Now, in the last months, I’m a changed person. I connect more with my family, my children, Kiran’s parents, Reena’s parents, my mother, sister and brother.
“I would have liked to spend much more time with them at the cost of my work.
“But at that time, I was just so passionately following what I was doing.”
During the interview with Nikhil, Ranbir also revealed the things that his wife Alia Bhatt had changed for him.
He admitted: “Everything I complained about, or she’s complained about, I think she’s made a better effort than I have.
“She changed more for me than I have changed for her. I’m acknowledging it but I should do something about it.
“For example, she used to speak in a very loud tone. I think my father’s tone, growing up, always rattled me.
“So, she really made an effort to change that and that’s not easy.”
“She’s a really instinctive person – there’s a reaction and that also throws me off.
“Alia does certain things that put me at ease. I hope I could say things that I did to put her at ease but I don’t think I’ve done anything yet.”
