"she has received a video from a number featuring me."

Pakistani politician Azam Khan Swati explained that his wife had received an “obscene” video of him and her from an unknown number.

In a press conference, Swati, a senator of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, tearfully spoke about his ordeal.

He began the press conference by referring to a previous media talk, where he recalled saying that he not committed any corruption and nobody, including “powerful circles”, had any “immoral videos” of him.

But Swati said: “I was completely wrong.”

Explaining that he received an angry phone call from his wife, Swati said:

“I was shattered when my wife called me and started crying.

“I asked my daughter, who has come from America, to talk to her mom about the matter.

“Then my wife revealed that she has received a video from a number featuring me.

“Because the daughters and granddaughters of my country are listening, I cannot say any further.”

Speaking to his daughter, Swati insisted that he had been faithful, asking “isn’t your mother aware that I go to bed at 9 pm and get up at 3:30 am”.

But his daughter revealed that the video featured her mother as well.

Azam Khan Swati continued: “I have always lived my life with her.

“Doesn’t she know that a few days ago, on the morning of October 16, I was filmed while being taken into custody?

“And it’s no big deal to convert and make a video these days.

“But my daughter was sobbing and later said that the video does not feature anyone else but ‘you and mama’.”

Imran Khan, who is recovering after being shot at a rally, condemned the alleged leaked video.

He tweeted: “What has happened to Azam Swati at the hands of the state has been a blatant violation of all these (Islamic) values – from being stripped naked to custodial torture and now this video where the privacy of his wife has been violated.

“It is both shocking, despicable, and utterly condemnable. No human being should have to suffer this.”

“I call on the CJP (Chief Justice of Pakistan) to take suo moto notice of this.”

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said: “I condemn it.”

After analysing the video, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) said the video was fake and had been doctored.

A statement read: “The initial video/audio and frame-to-frame forensic analysis has been carried out on the viral video as per International Forensic Analysis standard.

“Initial forensic analysis revealed that the video has been edited and different video clips have been joined with defaced faces.

“Further analysis revealed that faces have been swapped in the images using Photoshop.

“The press conference by the honourable senator, in which he has showed his concerns warrant a proper investigation.

“Mr Azam Khan Swati is requested to lodge a complaint with FIA and share his concerns about the reason of thinking it authentic.”

“Prima facie, it is a fake video, edited with deep fake tools to create misunderstanding and defame the senator.”
