"Adults should demonstrate good morals."

PEMRA recently issued a formal show-cause notice to the chief of City News Network after a clip of Fiza Ali and her husband went viral.

This comes after the broadcast of controversial content during a recent episode of the morning show Mornings with Fiza.

The regulatory body specifically targeted the April 13, 2026, broadcast featuring Fiza Ali and her husband, Ejaz Khan.

During the live transmission, a specific segment involving physical interaction between the couple sparked significant outrage across social media platforms.

A video clip from the episode shows Ejaz Khan lifting his wife and briefly slinging her over his shoulder.

PEMRA categorised the broadcast segment as including an obnoxious gesture that was aired without any editorial oversight.

Officials have directed the network executive to appear before the regulatory body in Islamabad on April 27, 2026.

The notice states the program was in direct violation of the existing electronic media rules and the official code of conduct.

The chief executive officer must now submit a written reply explaining why legal action should not be initiated against the channel.

Failure to comply with these orders could lead to ex parte proceedings and further penalties under the relevant national regulations.

The network was additionally ordered to stop telecasting such inappropriate content to ensure that the ethical standards are properly met.

The controversial moment began when Fiza Ali’s daughter, Faraal, joined her mother on the live set.

Faraal had joined both her mother and her stepfather in the studio to discuss their personal family life and home.

She asked Ejaz Khan if he could lift her mother on the show just as he frequently does at home.

Ejaz Khan responded affirmatively to the young girl and then proceeded to lift the host in front of the cameras.

While the gesture was intended to be playful, it quickly drew sharp criticism from viewers and various public officials online.

Hina Parvez Butt, who serves as the chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority, described the incident as very regrettable.

She noted that “adults should demonstrate good morals and decorum so that children and the younger generation can learn something better.”

She emphasised that adults on television should act with more responsibility to set a positive example for the youth watching.

Following the widespread backlash, Fiza Ali defended the incident by describing it as a lighthearted and entirely spontaneous gesture.

She maintained that the moment “did not have any bad meaning behind it” despite the heavy criticism from the public.

Despite her explanation, the media authority remains firm that the content was highly inappropriate for a national television audience.
