Actress and reality TV star Payal Rohatgi was arrested for allegedly threatening to kill her society’s chairperson.
The former Bigg Boss 2 contestant was arrested in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
It was alleged that in a social media post, she verbally abused the chairperson. She later deleted the post.
The complaint was lodged by Dr Parag Shah, a resident of the society.
In the complaint, Payal allegedly abused the chairperson in various WhatsApp groups.
The complainant alleged that Payal threatened to break the leg of anyone who argued with her.
She reportedly got into a verbal spat with society members over a plot of land that is used as a playing area for children.
Payal threatened to file false cases against the society members.
She also argued with them before allegedly threatening to kill the chairperson.
Payal was subsequently arrested and medical tests were conducted.
It seemed she was released on bail because she posted an Instagram video on June 25, 2021, claiming that she is being used by “certain people” to “fulfil an agenda”.
She alleged: “I know I am being used to fulfil an agenda by certain people who themselves don’t want to do the dirty work.
“But I am going with the flow even though I know I am being trapped as God has a plan for me which none of these powerful people can even touch. Om Namah Shivay #payalrohatgi.”
Payal Rohatgi has been involved in numerous controversial moments.
In 2019, she was arrested in Rajasthan for her remarks against India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
In a Facebook video, she made objectionable comments against the family, claiming that Jawaharlal was not the legitimate child of Motilal Nehru.
She claimed that he was born out of an illicit relationship of Kamala Nehru with another man.
In 2020, her Twitter account was suspended following her comments on the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill protests.
She also criticised several Bollywood stars following the tragic death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
