In a barbaric incident, a first-year student, named Taliba, was raped by a van driver who was supposed to be taking her to college in the jurisdiction of Fatehpur police.

The man being identified as Ibrahim took the student to an isolated area of Layyah town in Punjab, Pakistan, instead of the route to drop her at her institute of study.

Ibrahim, an accomplice named Nadeem and a third unnamed man, all then sexually assaulted and raped Taliba in Ibrahim’s van, on Sunday, April 14, 2019.

After raping and sexually abusing her, in her traumatic and physically violated state, Ibrahim and the two other men left Taliba outside a private clinic in a critical condition and quickly fled the scene.

Taliba was immediately administered for treatment at the clinic and subsequently, after medical examinations, the medico-legal report confirmed that she was raped and sexually assaulted.

Police were called to the facility who then immediately transported Taliba to the Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, for further treatment and safety.

Taliba’s father has urgently sought justice for his daughter who has endured this horrific physical and sexual attack, under the supervision of someone who was supposed to be protecting her, as her driver.

Taliba is under medical supervision and is recovering from the gang-rape assault.

A case 215/19 was registered against the driver Ibrahim, Nadeem and the third man under section 376 II of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Following investigations and searches, police arrested Nadeem first and remanded him in custody.

After further raids and enquiries, Attaur Rehman of the Layyah District Police Office (DPO) said police had arrested the remaining two suspects, including Ibrahim.

The shocking incident has come to the attention of the Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, who has requested a full report from the DPO at the earliest.

The minister wants all the culprits caught and wants swift justice to be provided to the victim at any cost.

In another incident in Layyah, a girl was gang-raped by men in late March 2019.

The victim, a resident of Basti Chhadar, and her cousin were on their way home on a motorcycle when they got intercepted by a car of men when they got to Tail Munda Canal.

There the men named Inzamam, Asif, Ashraf and Faisal, forced the victim and her cousin towards a forest and quiet area. The men then all raped the victim at gunpoint.

They left the girl injured and traumatised and her cousin in the forest and fled the scene in their car.

Police took the victim to the hospital and verified after medical tests that she had endured a callous gang rape and sexual assault.
