A Pakistani officer has been suspended after he was caught on camera kicking an elderly woman during a protest.

The incident happened in the city of Swabi.

The video captured a tense confrontation between police officials, a man and a woman.

In a distressing turn of events, the constable reacted aggressively when the woman’s hand inadvertently touched his beard.

He violently kicked her before brandishing a gun in her direction.

The shocking display of force prompted swift intervention from bystanders, who managed to restrain the constable before further harm could be inflicted.

Adding to the turmoil, another woman present at the scene revealed that her husband had been taken into police custody.

This further heightened concerns about the conduct of law enforcement personnel during the demonstration.

In response to the incident, Abdul Karim, the adviser to the chief minister on industries, commerce, and technical education, released a statement.

He confirmed that the constable in question, Nihar Ali, had been suspended by the district police officer, Haroon Rashid Khan.

However, this action was met with dissatisfaction from the local populace, who adamantly called for the constable’s immediate dismissal from service.

They all claimed that a mere suspension was not enough.

While many condemned Nihar Ali’s actions, others argued that the woman “provoked” the officer, leading to his aggressive reaction.

One questioned: “Why she grabbed his beard??? It’s also not allowed, if you are a woman doesn’t mean you can touch or hit a man.”

Another commented: “Sorry to say but the woman also needs to learn some ethics.

“What is the point of physical touch? Everyone deserves respect irrespective of gender.”

A comment read: “Stop supporting this wild woman. If it were me I would put 12 bullets in her head.

“To all the people who are supporting this witch woman for one minute if this woman pulled your father by his beard, how would you feel?”

A significant number of individuals have strongly condemned the officer’s response as unacceptable and disproportionate.

A user said: “Such illiterate people do this to the women of their house as well.”

One stated: “Whatever the woman does, even if she’s provocative he has no authority to load his rifle.”
