the Pakistani man "deceitfully captured objectionable pictures and videos of her"
A Pakistani man from Lahore was arrested on Tuesday, August 24, 2019, for filming and photographing a woman without her permission.
The Cybercrime Reporting Centre (CCRC) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) explained that the man used the “objectionable” photos and videos to harass and blackmail the woman.
A statement was issued by FIA CCRC Lahore Deputy Director Chaudhry Sarfraz.
According to the statement, a complaint was registered by a man from the city of Sheikhupura.
The man alleged that his sister was being harassed and blackmailed by a man from Lahore who used pictures and videos taken of her without consent to extort money from her.
According to the FIR, the woman had come into contact with the suspect during a meeting. During the meeting, the Pakistani man “deceitfully captured objectionable pictures and videos of her”.
The victim’s brother also stated that the suspect stole her phone.
The man had forced the woman to give him Rs. 300,000 (£1,590).
He had been demanding a further Rs. 500,000 (£2,600) otherwise he would share the photos and videos online.
After the complaint was registered, Deputy Director Sarfraz led an investigation team.
They carried out a raid on the suspect’s home and the man was arrested. Officers also recovered two mobile phones from him.
According to Dawn, a police statement explained that one of the phones contained several videos and photos of the woman.
The statement said: “After recovery of the alleged material and sufficient incriminating evidence, the accused person was arrested and recovered mobile phones were taken into custody by FIA through seizure memo.”
During interrogation, the man reportedly confessed to his crimes.
A case was registered against the man on August 27, 2019, under Sections 20, 21 and 24 of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The case is still being investigated and has been assigned to Inspector Sabahat Noor.
The arrest comes after a man named Nabraz from Karachi was found to have video footage of a 12-year-old girl.
According to officers, Nabraz befriended young girls after obtaining their phone numbers from a friend.
He allegedly would then persuade them to perform sexual acts while he filmed them. Nabraz would then blackmail the girls by threatening to upload the footage online.
Nabraz befriended the 12-year-old girl and later made pornographic videos and pictures of her.
After blackmailing the girl, her mother found out about the “compromising” footage and informed the police. A complaint was registered and Nabraz was arrested.
FIA officers looked through his phone where they found more videos and photos of young children.
