"I am glad my friend won the show."
Rapper MC Stan beat his friend Shiv Thakare to become the Bigg Boss 16 winner.
He won the trophy, Rs. 31 Lakh in prize money and a car, with host Salman Khan handing over the prizes.
The show, which began on October 1, 2022, saw Shiv named the first runner-up.
Speaking after the finale, Shiv said:
“What had to happen, happened, I am glad my friend won the show.
“I am happy about that and also for the fact that I was there till the last day. I did my best inside and I am happy that I got the appreciation of the audience.”
Priyanka Chahar Choudhary, who fans believed would win, ended up in third place.
On social media, fans were unhappy that she did not win, with some accusing the show of being biased.
One Twitter user wrote: “Undeserved. Priyanka was the most deserving candidate.”
Another said: “Salman Khan said Priyanka is the winner, he knows Stan didn’t deserve it.”
A third commented: “Most undeserving winner in the history of Bigg Boss.”
Priyanka, whose eviction also surprised Salman, said she is elated with all the support that she received during her time on the show.
She said: “I thought I might get evicted in one week but after your (Khan’s) scolding, I started getting practical (about the show).”
Archana Gautam finished fourth while Shalin Bhanot came in fifth place.
After being named the winner, MC Stan told Salman Khan:
“I am thankful to you sir for all that you have taught me. You are the most real person. I am sure my parents would be feeling very proud.
“Lots of love to everyone, my mandali and everyone.”
The grand finale saw Sunny Deol appear as a guest to promote his upcoming film Gadar 2 along with co-star Ameesha Patel.
The team of Tere Ishq Mein Ghayal, led by Karan Kundrra, also appeared on the show.
At the beginning of the show, Salman thanked the fans for their love and support for the contestants.
Speaking about MC Stan’s win, Shalin Bhanot said:
“As they say, may the best person win, and he is the best person. I am happy for him just as I am happy for myself.”
Shalin was also offered the lead role in Ekta Kapoor’s upcoming show Beqaboo.
