"Trauma clouds your mind. You focus on surviving."

Pakistani actress and television host Maya Khan recently opened up about a deeply painful chapter of her life during a candid television interview.

Appearing on the morning show Rise and Shine with Nadia Khan, she spoke about financial betrayal.

Maya revealed that her former husband had taken all her savings, leaving her struggling emotionally and financially.

The actress explained that the ordeal pushed her into prolonged legal battles, which ultimately brought no relief.

She shared that despite having evidence to support her claims, the court process stretched across two exhausting years.

According to Maya, the experience was traumatic enough to silence her during the most vulnerable period of her life.

She said: “I could have gone to the media at that time, but trauma clouds your mind.

“You focus on surviving, not publicising your struggle.”

She also described the humiliation of attending court hearings while being recognised by strangers from her television career.

Maya admitted that even attempts to hide her face failed, making her feel exposed and powerless in public spaces.

The actor is widely remembered for her roles in Aik Muhabbat So Afsaney and her successful morning show on Samaa TV.

Over the years, she built a strong reputation as both an actor and a dependable television host.

Beyond television, Maya established herself as a businesswoman, running a herbal brand and authoring a published book.

She is now preparing to launch a podcast, marking a new chapter in her digital media journey.

Reflecting on her professional peak, Maya recalled being among the highest-paid morning show hosts in Pakistan.

She revealed earning Rs 25 lakh per show, a figure that surprised even seasoned industry colleagues at the time.

According to her, anchor Iqrar ul Hassan would occasionally ask about her fees out of disbelief and curiosity.

However, Maya said the media industry changed dramatically, bringing financial instability she never anticipated.

In 2020, she accepted hosting work for Rs 4 lakh, a moment she described as emotionally shattering.

She said the sudden shift felt like falling from the sky, forcing her to confront a harsh new reality.

Despite setbacks, Maya made a steady return to television with Mayi Ri and later Baray Bhaiyya.

Her portrayal of Waniya earned appreciation, signalling a quiet but meaningful professional resurgence.

Most recently, she appeared on Good Morning Pakistan, where she broke down while discussing personal life.

Speaking about friendship, Maya Khan said: “I am so blessed to have my friends. They are Allah’s gift to me.”

She added that knowing her friends are always one call away often overwhelms her with gratitude and emotion.
