Mannara Chopra has been thrust into the spotlight due to a recent kissing controversy, and she has now offered her response to the situation.
The actress faced an uncomfortable situation at a promotional event for her upcoming film Thiragabadara Saami.
She was forcibly kissed on her cheeks by the film’s director, AS Ravi Kumar.
Many netizens, who came across the clip, slammed the filmmaker and accused him of harassment.
Social media users bashed the filmmaker for kissing the actress without consent.
One user wrote: “Imagine if these men-in-charge can take advantage in front of public cameras, what they are capable of behind closed doors?”
Another user commented: “She was feeling embarrassed.”
While some bashed Mannara Chopra for not speaking up, others also commented about how actresses have to go through this ordeal all the time in the industry.
Reacting to the backlash, Mannara Chopra clarified it, further asserting that Ravi Kumar’s intention was not wrong.
Mannara Chopra, on September 1, shared a post on her social media account addressing the controversy.
She shared the video and wrote: “Didn’t know that the promotion of my film will take an unexpected turn.
“Everything I wanted to express is already covered in the video above.
“I kindly request media outlets to respect my need for space; I’m not ready to share further details at this moment.”

Upon being questioned about the ongoing controversy, she replied:
“Whatever news is getting viral, I think the director loved my work in the film.
“They keep calling me even when we are not shooting. I think he just got over-excited.
“I was taken by surprise by the way the video picked up.”
She further added: “My film is releasing. It is a good film and I am so looking forward to its release.
“Whatever the incident was, he just did it out of excitement.
“There are times when people get excited and don’t realise what they are doing.
“I have always loved the South industry. People have always loved me there.”
“I don’t think he had any wrong intentions.”
Mannara Chopra made her acting debut with the 2014 Telugu film Prema Geema Jantha Nai.
She was later seen in the Bollywood film Zid in the same year.
Mannara was also seen in Sandamarutham (2015), Jakkanna (2019), and Sita (2019).
Meanwhile, her upcoming film Thiragabadara Saami will be released on September 15, 2023.
