"She is always ahead of the curve."

Following rumours that the Indian government are considering changing the country’s name to Bharat, Kangana Ranaut has stated that she predicted this.

The rumours came to light when pictures of the official G20 Summit invite circulated on social media.

It featured the words “President of Bharat” instead of the usual “President of India”.

Along with a “special session”, it has led to speculation that Narendra Modi’s BJP is planning to use the session to announce its intention to officially rename India.

A tweet by a senior spokesperson also said Mr Modi was attending a summit of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Indonesia as the “Prime Minister of Bharat”.

While some members of Mr Modi’s party have welcomed the rumours, much of the opposition are against the idea.

It seems that Kangana is in favour of ‘Bharat’ and claimed she had predicted it in 2021.

She reposted a person’s tweet that had shared a news story which stated that the actress called for the abolition of the “slave name” India.

In the story, Kangana suggested that the country should be called Bharat.

The user had written: “She is always ahead of the curve.”

Kangana captioned her post: “And some call it black magic… It’s simply Grey matter honey.

“Congratulations to everyone!! Freed from a slave name… Jai Bharat.”

Kangana also explained the history of Bharat while also detailing the importance of the term.

She tweeted: “What is there to love in this name? First of all, they couldn’t pronounce ‘They turned Sindhu into Indus. Then Hindos became Indos’.

“From the time of Mahabharata, all the kingdoms who participated in the Great War of Kurukshetra came under one continent called Bharat so why were they calling us Indu Sindu??

“Also the name Bharat is so meaningful, what is the meaning of India?”

“I know they called Red Indians that because in olden English Indian simply meant a slave, they named us Indians because that was our new identity given to us by the British.

“Even in olden days, dictionary Indian’s meaning was mentioned as slave they recently changed it. Also it’s not our name we are Bhartiya not Indians.”

While it is not known whether India will be changed to Bharat, the rumours have prompted a lot of discussion.

On the work front, Kangana will be next seen in Chandramukhi 2.

She plays the role of a dancer in the king’s court, who is known for her beauty and dance skills.
