A Pakistani man in Naushahro Feroze hacked off his daughter’s legs after she tried to escape her abusive marriage.

In a shocking incident, Sobia Batool Shah suffered horrific injuries at the hands of her father and uncles, who reportedly carried out the horrific act in the name of honour.

They chopped her legs off with axes, resulting in severe injuries and broken bones.

This was after she sought a divorce from her abusive husband.

This deeply troubling act took place in Gul Town, where Sobia’s quest for freedom turned into a nightmare.

After being attacked with axes, the culprits fled the scene.

Neighbours heard her screams and alerted the police.

The culprits have been identified as father Syed Mustafa Shah and uncles Syed Qurban Shah, Ehsan Shah, Shah Nawaz, and Mushtaq Shah.

The violence left her with not only physical trauma but also the grim possibility of lifelong disability.

The abuse Sobia endured extended beyond this brutal act.

Her husband had a history of neglect and violence, failing to support her and their two children.

Despite repeatedly reaching out for help, her pleas were met with indifference from her family.

They labelled her a “disgrace” for wanting to end her abusive marriage. In a desperate bid to escape her situation, Sobia filed for divorce.

This courageous decision incited her father and uncles, who accused her of “dishonouring” the family.

When Sobia refused to retract her legal actions, they confronted her violently.

The incident garnered immediate attention from local authorities. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Naushahro Feroze took swift action.

He directed the local station house officer (SHO) to ensure justice for Sobia and safeguard her well-being.

Mushtaq Shah has since been arrested while efforts continue to apprehend the others involved.

The horrific attack on Sobia Batool Shah has ignited widespread outrage among netizens.

They are demanding immediate action from authorities to arrest the culprits involved in this brutal act of violence.

A user said: “My god. What is happening in this country? Women are getting beaten and killed by their husbands, fathers and brothers.

“And then they say that 90% of women are ignorant.”

One commented:

“So she was neither safe in her own house nor at her husband’s.”

Another wrote: “Some people don’t deserve to be parents and unfortunately, he will get away with it.”

One remarked: “Not all men but also, always men.”

Sobia’s story is a stark reminder of the pervasive issues of domestic violence and patriarchal oppression faced by many women.

Her courage in seeking a divorce should be a source of inspiration.

However, it also highlights the urgent need for systemic change to protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable.
