In a recent conversation with Rabia Mughni, host of Fuchsia magazine, Mamya Shajaffar shared insights into her personal life.
She talked about her marriage to Farooq Gul, a talented photographer, creative director and designer.
When asked about her decision to tie the knot at 25, Mamya explained:
“I believe I got married at the right time.
“I had reached a stage in my life where I was ready for a new chapter, and getting married was a natural progression.
“I didn’t make an abrupt decision. We were already studying together and had been seeing each other for three years. My mother was quite strict.
“She used to ask me to come home by 10:00 pm and I did not want to do that. I used to say to her that she would be asleep by 10:00.”
Mamya said her mother’s influence was a significant factor in her decision to get married.
She said: “My mother then asked when I would get married. I didn’t make a hasty decision.
“Farooq and I had been together for three years. We knew each other well and were comfortable with each other’s company.”
Mamya revealed that she invited Farooq to bring his mother and they got married in a simple yet beautiful ceremony within 10 days.
She described the experience, saying: “After a simple yet intimate nikkah ceremony, we celebrated our union with a lovely reception at the breathtaking Fairy Meadows.
“Although we had a wonderful time, Gul and I still dream of having a grand wedding celebration in the future.”
Mamya also expressed her gratitude for her supportive mother-in-law, saying:
“My mother-in-law is a super supportive and caring woman. My husband is also very supportive. My life is like a breeze. I have the best support system I would say.”
