"I’m going back to public enemy number one.”

Love Island contestants were left stunned after Shakira and Ty chose to send Tommy and Lucy home, despite them being one of the villa’s strongest couples.

In a ruthless shake-up, Andrada and Ben were the first to be dumped after being voted the least compatible.

But the drama escalated when it was revealed that three more couples were also at risk, and Shakira and Ty, voted the most compatible, had the power to send another duo packing.

Tommy and Lucy, Conor and Emma, and Lauren and Harrison were all put in the firing line.

Shakira chose to save Conor after he confessed his feelings for her and she admitted she felt the same.

Speaking to Ty before the decision, she explained:

“Harrison’s my best mate obviously, with Conor we’ve been exploring a connection.

“At the end of the day, I’m not going to be in this position and not save the people I’ve got the best connections with.”

The decision left the other Islanders visibly shocked and confused.

Helena didn’t hide her anger at the result and snapped: “It’s not right.”

But Shakira refused to back down and said calmly: “I did what I wanted to do.”

With a smirk, she added: “I’m going back to public enemy number one.”

Meanwhile, Toni didn’t hide her feelings after witnessing Lauren and Harrison kiss right in front of her.

She fumed: “That’s why I wanted them gone.”

Just days earlier, Harrison had tried to kiss Toni on the terrace but appeared to get steamy under the sheets with Lauren on the July 14 episode.

During the exit interview, Tommy called Shakira and Ty’s decision “frustrating”.

He said: “Shakira and Conor have a thing going on so she obviously wanted to keep him.

“Shakira’s also close with Toni and knows she still really likes Harrison.

“That’s all the decision came down to.

“So to leave in that way, getting voted out by another Islander who I’m not that close with, was frustrating.

“At the end of the day it’s all part and parcel of the game.

“Lucy was only there for nine days, so I feel like she deserved to experience it more.

“I’d like to have had more of a journey with her in the Villa.”

Lucy called her exit a “shock” but said she will continue her budding romance with Tommy.

Meanwhile, Shakira and Conor’s relationship continued heating up.

After their private chat in the Hideaway the night before, the pair sneaked off again, this time for a flirty moment in the hot tub.

But Shakira kept things in check, telling the rugby player: “No smooching!”

When Conor asked why, she said:

“Because then I have to go and have that conversation.”

Despite trying to behave, Shakira couldn’t hide her feelings. When Conor asked if she wanted to kiss him, she replied:

“I do want to… You’re really pushing the luck of the Irish right now.”

Later, as the pair emerged from their steamy hot tub moment, Conor celebrated with high-fives from the boys, leaving Ty speechless.

Ty, clearly taken aback, was overheard telling Cach: “He [Conor] looks like he’s just scored a hat-trick.”
