Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has come out in support for victims of domestic abuse during this difficult and unprecedented time.

As the spread of the coronavirus continues to affect the world and people are urged to stay indoors, unfortunately, the number of domestic violence cases are also on the rise.

This is because victims of domestic abuse are having to stay indoors with their perpetrators.

Now, Katrina has shown her support and joined the team of people who have been fighting to combat this crime.

Taking to Instagram, Katrina shared a picture of herself along with the caption, “I am Fatima.”

The actress also wrote a note offering her support and raising awareness. She said:

“I am her voice today and the voices of the many victims of domestic abuse which are going unheard.

“Rising number of cases have put tremendous pressure on the resources of SNEHA, an NGO that has been fighting domestic violence since 20 years.

“They need to raise funds and raise resources to tackle domestic violence.

“You can choose to lend your voice by clicking @snehamumbai_official, picking a name on their page, posting your image with the name you’ve picked, and donating via the link in their bio.”

Katrina Kaif continued to nominate fellow Bollywood actresses to join the initiative. She wrote:

“I nominate @tabutiful @janhvikapoor @aliaabhatt to lend their voices and help out. #domesticviolence #Sneha #NGO #domesticviolenceawareness.”

As well as showing her support, the actress has also shared how she misses being on a set. She said:

“I am taking it one day at a time.”

“There are days when I miss being on a shoot. And yes, sometimes I also get worried about what happens next.

“But the worry is much less because I understand the crisis the world is dealing with and the importance of defeating the pandemic.”

Katrina continued to mention how she spends her days during the lockdown. She said:

“I see this as a change. On a daily basis, I stay busy with household chores. Other than that, I workout and also watch something.

“I love reading and so I am doing that too. My work on my cosmetic range is still on, so I try and spend some time with the team.

“Apart from that, I am also reading scripts, so there are ample things to keep me occupied.”

Katrina is amongst many Bollywood stars who have raised their voice against domestic abuse.

These include filmmaker Karan Johar, actresses Anushka Sharma and Vidya Balan, actor Farhan Akhtar and many more.

Ayesha is an English graduate with an aesthetic eye. Her fascination lies in sports, fashion and beauty. Also, she does not shy away from controversial subjects. Her motto is: “no two days are the same, that is what makes life worth living.”
