“Katrina is very, very good with her food"
Katrina Kaif has long impressed fans and lovers of Bollywood with her killer body.
Dancing alongside heartthrob Sidharth Malhotra in the movie Baar Baar Dekho, ‘Kala Chashma’ has become the latest dance hit of 2016.
But, the main talk of the town has been about Katrina’s new and gorgeously ripped body in the song.
The sexy dance number has sparked a lot of media attention, and speculation has been rife about how Katrina achieved her new killer body for the high-tempo number.
With her ultra-toned arms and rock hard abs, there is no denying that Katrina offers fitness fanatics ‘ultimate body goals’.
If you have ever wondered what it takes to achieve and maintain such a toned and ravishing physique, Yasmin Karachiwala, Katrina’s fitness trainer, spills the beans about Katrina’s exercise and diet regime for ‘Kala Chashma’.
Yasmin reveals in several media interviews that for the film, Baar Baar Dekho, the main focus was to work on Katrina’s abs as well as her arms.
Yasmin is known for transforming other A-list celebrities, including Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, and Sonakshi Sinha to name a few (read our exclusive Gupshup with Yasmin Karachiwala here).
A mixture of Pilates and a lot of cardio were used as part of a special workout routine in order to get the particular look that was required.
Yasmine told Bollywood Life: “I keep changing what she needs to do depending on the look that she’s giving. But these abs are definitely because of her combination of pilates and cardio.”
A lot of time and effort, as well as hard work and sweat, were put in, in order to get this particular look.
Katrina was also required to lose a few pounds after gaining a slight bit of weight during the making of her previous movie Fitoor, which was achieved through her regular and disciplined workout regime.
“Katrina is very, very good with her food,” Yasmin adds.
According to Yasmin, Katrina generally follows healthy eating habits anyway in order to maintain her outstanding figure.
In an attempt to lose a few pounds before the dance number, Katrina started dieting approximately three weeks prior to the shooting of the song.
- Breakfast ~ for breakfast, Katrina tends to eat something low in calories but high in fibre, such as oat cakes.
- Lunch ~ a high protein option is usually consumed, such as fish or grilled chicken, along with some vegetables.
- Dinner ~ consists of another low-calorie option, such as soup and eggs and salad on some occasions instead of eggs.
Alongside this, Katrina replaced caffeine drinks such as coffee with green tea:
“It’s the healthiest thing I can think of to drink,” mentions Dr. Christopher Ochner, a research scientist.
Green tea contains many antioxidants and healthy properties which aid with weight loss, reduce bloating and speeds up metabolism.
Katrina also stated that she took acai berry supplements in order to obtain more vitamins and minerals in her diet.

“Classes have the benefit of being well structured and easy to follow and there is an instructor on hand if you need assistance or advice,” states personal trainer Nichola Glanville.
A more expensive, yet more convenient option would be to opt for one-on-one sessions.
For those with less time on their hands, books and DVDs are available as well as YouTube videos online.
These allow you to learn at your own pace and convenience.

It is very important to make sure that you get a rest day in between intensive workout days to ensure your body has time to repair itself.
According to personal trainer Jeff Behar: “It is the rest that allows you to recover so you can be strong, and thereby handle the increased weight, and increased number of sets and reps needed to gain further.”
As well as rest days, it is also important to get plenty of sleep, which also plays an important part in repair.
Some people take longer to show results compared to others due to genetics and other individual factors.
Always consult a doctor or diet specialist before taking supplements or making any drastic changes to your eating habits.
