"Dharma Productions will not be working with him"
Karan Johar has reportedly unfollowed Kartik Aaryan on social media following his dismissal from Dostana 2.
The filmmaker’s Dharma Productions had announced that Kartik would no longer be a part of the film.
The film was announced in 2019, with Kartik starring alongside Janhvi Kapoor and debutant Lakshya.
Kartik reportedly completed 20 days of filming before he was dropped from the film.
Dharma Productions released an official statement on the matter, saying:
“Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence, we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D’Cunha.
“Please wait for the official announcement soon.”
It now looks like the drama has continued as Karan seems to have unfollowed Kartik on Instagram.
On the other hand, Kartik continues to follow Karan.
While Dharma Productions did not reveal why Kartik Aaryan was dropped from Dostana 2, a source told India Forums that it was due to Kartik’s unprofessional behaviour.
The source claimed: “Kartik is not part of Dostana 2 anymore and Dharma Productions will not be working with him again.
“After 20 days of shoot, he had issues with the script and felt that it was not okay.
“This was strange as he had gone through the script one to one and a half years back.”
The source also claimed that Kartik was repeatedly delaying the schedule, which was affecting his co-stars.
The source continued: “Dharma productions has been in touch with Kwan Talent Management Agency, who manages Kartik.
“But there was no reply for dates.”
Kartik and his team have not spoken about the dismissal.
The decision to remove Kartik Aaryan from Dostana 2 was met with heavy criticism on social media.
Outspoken actress Kangana Ranaut reacted and sent out a strong message to Karan Johar, claiming that Kartik could become a victim of nepotism.
She wrote on Twitter: “Kartik has come this far on his own, on his own he will continue to do so, only request to papa jo and his nepo gang club is please leave him alone like Sushant don’t go after him and force him to hang himself.
“Leave him alone you vultures, get lost chindi nepos.”
Kangana continued: “Kartik doesn’t need to be scared of these chillars… after doing nasty articles and releasing announcements blaming only your attitude for fall out this moron wants to maintain a dignified silence.
“They spread same stories of drug addiction and unprofessional behaviour for SSR also.
“Know that we are with you, the one who did not make you can’t break you either, today you must be feeling lonely and targeted from all corners.
“No need to feel so, everyone knows this drama queen JO, you will do very well dear, trust your instincts and be disciplined. much love.”
