Karan Johar met and spoke with Hollywood actress Charlize Theron. His pose with her attracted widespread attention on Instagram.
The occasion was at the 2023 Hindustan Times Summit.
Charlize, originally from South Africa, spoke with Karan about Indian culture and films.
The Hollywood icon delved into her love for Bollywood films.
She said: “The largest Indian population outside of India is in South Africa.
“I flew in last night and we went to have dinner, and I walked into the restaurant and it smelled like home. I was like, ‘I know this smell.’
“I grew up with a lot of Indian culture around me. And I think it’s partly why I’ve always wanted to come to India.
“I’m fascinated by the culture. I’m fascinated by the people and fascinated by the country.
“There’s a beauty here that is just unique to India. You do not find this anywhere else.
“I got to watch more Bollywood movies than I did American movies.
“When I was around 10, we got this kind of a streamer on our television and the predominant movies that were on it were Bollywood movies.
“And every Sunday, they would put a new movie on and that was what we did.
“Every Sunday we sat and we watched a Bollywood movie.”
Karan posted a series of pictures with Charlize Theron on his Instagram. He shared:
“Had the pleasure and privilege of being in conversation with the absolutely lovely and stunning @charlizeafrica.
“At the #htleadershipsummit.
“She was so eloquent, warm and so compassionate … styled by @ekalakhani @sheldon.santos.”
Several Bollywood personalities enthusiastically reacted to the post.
Arjun Kapoor exclaimed: “My absolute favourite.”
Katrina Kaif complimented: “Sharp.”
During their meeting, Karan specified that he was not keen on Charlize seeing his films. He teased:
“I never want you to see any of my movies. Because even when they are dying, they have everything ready.
“Their hair is blow-dried, they have lipstick on, there is no compromise.”
This caused the prolific actress to burst into peals of laughter.
Charlize Theron has won numerous accolades throughout her career.
At the 2004 Academy Awards, she won the Oscar for ‘Best Actress’ for her performance in Monster (2003).
Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan is currently enjoying the grand success of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023).
He is also presenting Koffee with Karan 8 which premiered on Disney+Hotstar on October 26, 2023.
In upcoming episodes, Karan Johar will host a variety of celebrities.
