Kangana Ranaut has constantly been making headlines since the release of the trailer of her new film Thalaivi.

Now, the first song of the J Jayalalithaa biopic, ‘Chali Chali’, has been released.

The song showcases Jayalalithaa’s golden era as an actress.

Ranaut uploaded a link to the original song to her Twitter account on Friday, April 2, 2021.

In the tweet, she shared that the song was fashioned according to Jayalalithaa’s debut song, and expressed her gratitude to her fans for their responses.

Ranaut also said that she is “not a patch” on Jayalalithaa, in response to fans asking if she was so beautiful in her debut song.

Kangana Ranaut’s tweet read:

“Thank you for giving so much love to ‘Chali Chali’, lot of Hindi speaking people asking was Jayaa maa so beautiful in her debut song?

“Well I am not a patch on her, here is her debut song link, ‘Chali Chali’ is fashioned after ammmamma kaatru have a look.”

Multiple Twitter users praised Kangana Ranaut for the debut song.

One said: “First, congratulations to you and your team. Just I want to say you are an amazing actor and you are Queen.”

Another tweeted:

“In my late 60s now, am getting a bit nostalgic about my early school days in Madras when All India Radio would play this so often and it would waft in air as I walked to school.

Although Kangana Ranaut shared the original song from 1965, Telugu-Tamil actress Samantha Akkineni shared Ranaut’s latest version in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The caption read:

“Amma’s unmatched grace and her stunning screen presence is known to all.

“Witness her fanfare from Cinema to CM. #ChaliChali #MazhaiMazhai #IlaaIlaa out!”

In response, Kangana Ranaut thanked her for “being so gracious”.

Ranaut said:

“Thank you my dear @Samanthabrabhu2 for being so gracious.

“You are the epitome of woman empowerment, we need to empower each other and that’s real feminism. Thank you.”

Kangana Ranaut’s film Thalaivi is due for release on April 23, 2021.

It is also being released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Alongside Kangana Ranaut, the film stars Arvind Swamy, Bhagyashree, Madhoo, and Prakash Raj.
