"Our family is growing!"

US Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance have announced they are expecting their fourth child in what has been described as a record-breaking pregnancy reveal.

The couple shared the news on January 20 through an official text announcement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The statement read: “We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy.”

It added that Usha and the baby are doing well and that the family is looking forward to welcoming him in late July.

JD and Usha also expressed gratitude during what they described as an exciting and hectic time for their growing family.

They thanked military doctors for taking excellent care of them and staff members who help them serve the country while enjoying family life.

Usha Vance, 40, also shared the announcement with her own caption, writing: “We’re very happy to share some exciting news. Our family is growing!”

The couple, who married in 2014, already share three young children named Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel.

JD Vance, 41, and the official White House X account both reposted the announcement shortly after it went live.

The White House caption read: “The most pro-family administration in history! CONGRATULATIONS!”

The announcement has made history, as Usha Vance will become the first Second Lady to give birth while in office.

While this is a first for a Second Lady, several First Ladies have previously had children during their husbands’ presidencies.

Frances Cleveland, wife of President Grover Cleveland, gave birth to her daughter, Esther, inside the White House in 1893.

She later welcomed a second child, Marion, who was born outside the White House, and remains the youngest First Lady in history at 21.

Jacqueline Kennedy, wife of President John F Kennedy, also gave birth during her time as First Lady.

Her third child, Patrick Bouvier Kennedy, was born prematurely on Cape Cod in 1963 and tragically died just two days later.

JD Vance has frequently spoken about declining birth rates throughout his political career.

The Vice President met Usha while studying at Yale Law School, where their relationship first began.

During a speech at the anti abortion March for Life rally last year, he openly shared his views on family and population growth.

He stated: “I want more babies in the United States of America.”

Vance argued that society had failed a generation by permitting a culture of abortion on demand.

He also claimed young parents were neglected and not given the support needed to lead happy and meaningful lives.

According to Vance, a culture of radical individualism has caused people to see the responsibilities and joys of family life as obstacles.

He added that society has failed to recognise its obligation from one generation to the next.

JD and Usha Vance have been married for 11 years and are preparing to welcome their fourth child later this summer.
