"Necklines and hemlines are Gehraiyaan."

A war of words ensued between influencer Freddy Birdy and Deepika Padukone after he commented on the length of her clothes during Gehraiyaan promotions.

Now, he has fired jibes at the actress, calling her “fake”.

The social media influencer said he wasn’t mocking her, adding that Deepika is free to wear her hemlines “till your toes or your ears”.

Taking to Instagram, Freddy Birdy, a popular account on the platform, shared on January 31, 2022:

“Dear Deepika, I’m not ‘mocking you’ for wearing tiny clothes.

“You can wear your hemlines till your toes or your ears for all I care.

“And thank you for calling me a ‘moron’.

“It’s the only non-fake thing you’ve uttered in your entire career. Love, Fred.”

On January 30, 2022, Deepika took to her Instagram Story and shared a note that read:

“Scientists say the universe is made of protons, neutrons, and electrons.

“They forgot to mention morons.”

It is uncertain if Deepika’s story was about Freddy or not.

However, Freddy later shared Deepika’s note on his Instagram Story and wrote:

“The first non-fake comment in Deepika Padukone’s entire career” – a phrase he repeated in his post.

On January 29, 2022, Freddy had shared a post seemingly targeting the clothes worn by the female stars of Gehraiyaan.

The influencer’s post read: “Newton’s Law of Bollywood.

“The clothes will get tinier as the Gehraiyaan release date approaches.”

Part of the caption read: “Necklines and hemlines are Gehraiyaan.”

Freddy Birdy, whose page is followed by many Bollywood celebrities including Anushka Sharma, has since made his account private and reportedly deleted the post.

Mrunal Thakur was one of many to like the post, for which she was criticised by Deepika’s fans on social media.

Mrunal responded to the backlash and said: “You are so mentally sick.

“I wish I could get you some flowers and slam it on your face and thank you for spreading hate!

“Just to let you know I admire Deepika.

“Having said that I feel you must get yourself a life, rather than sitting at home and spreading hate, spread love!”

However, Deepika’s fans were not satisfied with her response.

One fan wrote: “Glad to know you like Deepika!

“It would have been catastrophic otherwise…

“But liking that post as a female was just unnecessary.”

Deepika Padukone stars in Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan alongside Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Dhairya Karwa.

Gehraiyaan will have its world premiere on Amazon Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories on February 11, 2022.
