"A Desi guy and his landlord had a massive showdown."
A video of a landlord throwing out the belongings of an Indian man in Canada has gone viral and sparked discussion on social media.
The video was shared by the account Ghar Ke Kalesh and it was claimed that the tenant’s belongings were thrown out because he refused to vacate the property.
It is believed that the incident happened in Brampton, where there is a large South Asian population.
The video shows two men taking items out of the property while the Indian man, who was just in a pair of shorts, looked on.
One of the men is believed to be the landlord.
He exchanges words with one of the men, who replies:
“I couldn’t give a s**t mate.”
The tenant swears at him before making further inaudible comments.
He then appears to accuse the landlord of lying to him, asking:
“Why do you tell me lies?”
Throughout the incident, a woman stands in the doorway.
The clip went viral and led to mixed responses.
While some joked about the situation, saying that the tenant received a free movers and packers service, others claimed the incident was a more “complex” matter that required both sides of the story.
One person wrote: “The tenant might have reasons for not vacating, but it’s also unfair for landlords to feel powerless.
“Unfortunately, it had to escalate to this point. I feel for both sides here.
“This is a complex issue that requires more understanding from both parties.”
Another said: “Just witnessed a wild scene in Brampton!
“A Desi guy and his landlord had a massive showdown.
“The landlord was tired of waiting for him to vacate, so he decided to start moving the guy’s stuff out himself! Talk about taking matters into your own hands!”
A third joked: “Free moving help.”

Appearing to side with the landlord, one user commented:
“This is not good for the country’s reputation. People should follow the rules.
“This is not India where someone can get away with such things.”
“It is damaging India’s global image, and landlords may refuse to rent their property to needy Indians.”
Highlighting the difficult situation, a comment read:
“Tough spot for both parties. Hope they find a resolution.”
Another agreed: “That sounds like a messy situation!
“Hope it gets resolved without things getting out of hand. Tough times dealing with landlords, especially when it comes to housing issues.”
